You Are Who The Parade Is For!

I stood in the quiet, with the darkness all around, then a faint sound came to my ear; there was horns and drums, happy music was playing, a parade was drawing near!

I watched and I waited, but no marchers or dancers could I see, for the parade was going by a few blocks over, it wasn't going to pass by me.

No matter how quickly I ran, I could never catch up, the sounds faded, like they'd never been, and sadness overtook me as I sank to the curb; it might come back, but who could tell when?

That is how I felt before I met you - I knew there was a parade passing by, with happiness and joy played in the music, but I could not see it and I didn't know why.

I tried on my own to travel the distance that would bring me to where I could see, but by the time I got there, the parade was already gone, my efforts all fell short of what they should be.

But then a wondrous thing occurred, Someone approached me, shining with brilliant light, and asked if I wanted to go to the parade, to be part of that wonderful sight.

I wanted that so, to be where the music was, to watch the players and dancers galore, and Jesus laughed with delight, and took my hand, saying "You are who the parade is for!"

He took my shabby dress and threw it away, replacing it with a gown of white, and gave me a brand new heart, one that was free to soar and take flight.

He brought me to the head of the parade, put me on a float of rainbow hues, and at the nod of His head, the music began, and I knew that dreams do come true.

The parade started up, the music so festive, the lights shining bright all around, and I was filled with joy that I had been rescued, that my small plea was enough to be found.

A little later on, the parade stopped again, and I wondered why, and if there was something I should do, when all of the sudden, my heart skipped a beat, for love stepped on to that float when I met you.

God had this planned, from the very beginning, these wonderful dreams for my life, to bring me love, and joy and peace, for I was always meant to be your wife.

Now the parade starts out each day anew, and there is joyful music all along
the way, and I get to spend every minute of every hour telling you how I love you a hundred, no a thousand times a day.

I thank God every morning for coming into my life, for His mercies that are every day brand new, and then I thank Him for the greatest joy of my life, the one I love, the gift I have in you.
