Hear the cause, O Lord, to my cry,
Giving an ear unto my prayer;
Lips free of the deceit and lie,
From unfeigned lips I want to share.

From Your presence vindicate me,
Let Your eyes the things that are right;
Giving me insight for to see,
That will guide me unto the light.

You have tried in proving my heart,
You have visited me at night;
You tested if I would depart,
Try hiding myself from Your sight.

I purposed I will not transgress,
Finding no evil in my heart;
By Your Word I ask that You bless,
Because of all that I impart.

With regards to the works of man,
By Your Word coming from Your lips;
I avoid any wicked plan,
Of potential that Satan grips.

My steps have held fast to Your path,
Not slipping the straight and narrow;
Since I want to be spared the wrath,
As I proceed towards tomorrow.

I call on You to answer me,
Incline Your ear to hear my speech;
Give me the insight as to see,
As I extend my hand to reach.

Wondrously show Your steadfast love,
O Savior of those who do seek;
Seeking refuge from foes thereof,
Strengthening me for I am weak.

I am the apple of Your eye,
Keep me hidden under Your wings;
Because I am humbled and shy,
With hope of what tomorrow brings.

I have been oppressed from violence,
While the wicked foes surround me;
Rescue me from this pestilence,
O Lord please respond to my plea.
