PROLOGUE

Ever looked back at time? Even tried to alter or stop time from happening? Ever been through a natural disaster, wishing time would erase such a happening? Well, you are in good company. Many times in my life I have been known to have a mind drift. “If I could only turn back the clock, what changes I would make!"  In other words, hindsight is better than foresight.

The saying 'time waits for no man' is another way to say that the passing of time is unstoppable, outside of our Creator God, and it will march on regardless of what anyone may say.

Yes, time is a strange and inexplicable bed fellow. It is well recognized throughout the world, broken up in numerous time zones. But yet, it waits for no one. It carries with it a multitude of idioms, phases and localized sayings.

I checked the internet idioms but there’s just no time to list them all. Do you see what I did there? My good old grandfather, had one of the best time idioms; “The reason time flies, is that we are always trying to kill it.”

Another favorite saying of mine is, 'Time waits for no one,' which is the title of our blog. Yes, time will come and go in spite of all we do. Take it from this retired church lay leader, who is now older than dirt and twice as gritty, I’ve seen it all.

The holy Scripture addresses this fact on many occasion including (Psalm 90:9-10) and it would behoove one to read (Psalm Ninety) in its entirety.

Even though eighty or so years seems like a substantial time to live, the Scripture urges us not to take it for granted. In fact, the Bible emphasizes the fleeting nature of humans' lives compared to eternity (Psalm 102:11,12) (Job 8:9). And (James 4:14) says that life is a vapor or a mist (James 4:14).

Yes, you may have heard the saying “time is on your side.” Not necessarily so. Our Creator, God, knew us before we were ever born. And He also has a plan for all of us throughout the time allotted to us here on earth.

Now into our blog entitled, “Time Waits for No One.” After your read, you will probably wonder who our main character was, and his purpose in adjusting the clock times as promptly as he did. Well keep wondering and read. Amen!

”What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which one can say, “Look! This is something new”? It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time. No one remembers the former generations, and even those yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow them.” (Ecclesiastes 1:9-11)

I had a dream, a most unusual one. I was in a large room filled with clocks of all shapes and forms. There were clocks on the walls, clocks standing on the floor, and even some dangling down from the ceiling. What was so weird was that each clock displayed a totally different time.

As I was standing there bumfuzzled, I fail to see a most unusual character enter the room. He was dressed the part of a town crier of centuries past, wearing a bright red and gold tailed coat, white knickers, black boots and tricornered hat.

Dangling from his waistband was a pocket watch on a long, gold chain, the size of which I had never seen before.

Ringing his handbell, he yelled “Oyez”, meaning “hear ye”, several times in drawing attention to his approach. Then grabbing up his pocket watch he swiftly waved it in the air and all the clocks of the room magically corrected to the same time.

Apparently he had served his mission of getting his point across and resetting the clocks, so without warning, he was gone like a light. So were the room and the clocks. I looked around and saw that I too was gone, back to my humble abode, sitting half on and half off my rumpled bed. My Grandfather clock was chiming out the hour. It couldn't be 3:00 am, for I had just gotten to bed.

Never mind, I’ve got work to do. I must get busy on my college dissertation while the dream is still fresh in my mind. Just where’s my study Bible, where’s my trusted laptop computer? Amen!

EPILOUGE

Now, have you an opinion of the gist of this fiction blog? Did you form an impression or thought about the main character of this blog? From a secular viewpoint, the Internet is stuffed with opinions of clock-related dreams. From a faith-based, Biblical viewpoint the Scriptures also give many references to dreams and times.

Exactly who was this particular character? Did he have a specific message in setting the clocks to an appointed time in history?  Is our Creator God attempting to tell us something about our future? Is it too late?

In (Daniel 2:21) we see that God changes times and seasons to apply His perfect will. Was it a warning? Could it have represented a providential coordination of the setting of the clocks to concur with the last days of history, as described in Scripture?

(II Timothy 3:1-9,13) (II Timothy 4:3-4)  (Matthew 24:7,12,23,37-39) (Revelation 6:5-6) (II Peter3:3-4)

OK, did you read the Scriptures?  We need to compare today’s news media sources with Scripture. Are you ready for such an event, my friend? As you know, “time waits for no one.”

Time Waits for No One, By the Rolling Stones

Yes, star crossed in pleasure the stream flows on by

Yes, as we're sated in leisure, we watch it fly, yes

And time waits for no one, and it won't wait for me

And time waits for no one, and it won't wait for me

Time can tear down a building, or destroy a woman's face

Hours are like diamonds, don't let them waste

Time waits for no one, no favors has he

Time waits for no one, and he won't wait for me

Men, they build towers to their passing yes, to their fame everlasting

Here he comes chopping and reaping, hear him laugh at their cheating

And time waits for no man, and it won't wait for me

Yes, time waits for no one, and it won't wait for thee

Drink in your summer, gather your corn

The dreams of the night time will vanish by dawn

And time waits for no one, and it won't wait for me

And time waits for no one, and it won't wait for me

No, no, no, not for me, no, not for me
