It is finished was His great cry
Just before our Savior died.
This was far more than a deep sigh,
As He felt His life subside.

It is clear He was announcing
To the Father up above;
In one word He was pronouncing
Victory was won for love.

"It is finished! It is finished!"
It can never be undone.
It can never be diminished;
Our salvation through the Son.

History can't be repeated.
He will never die again.
He has once for all completed
His great sacrifice for sin.

He, the Lamb of God has given
His life-blood for all mankind,
So that all may go to heaven
If they will this great truth find.

Nothing more can we add to it.
It is done once and for all.
But we each one must pursue it,
And on Jesus we must call.

We must take Him as our Savior,
And then trust Him as our Lord.
We will then have God's full favor,
And reap eternal reward.
