ARE YOU LISTENING                    by Jane H. Young

Matthew 10:27 NASB

“What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops.”

Jesus  often went  to pray and be alone with God.

He  devoted His time here on earth to doing what he heard His father say in those quiet times.

There are so many distractions today, we often forget how important having that quiet time with God is. The place where He talks to us and where we talk to Him, and listen.

We get to know God by spending time with Him by being willing to listen to that still small voice as He speaks to us.

Maybe we get rebuke or perhaps it’s direction for our life,

we need both.  Maybe you haven’t yet heard Him speak to you, or didn’t realize it was God. It could be a thought, a dream or a timely word from a stranger or friend.

Listening is such an important part of our Walk with God as young Samuel found out one night lying in bed. God gave Samuel directions for what was going to happen.

I Samuel 3:7-10

“Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, nor had the word of the LORD yet been revealed to him. So the LORD called Samuel again for the third time. And he arose and went to Eli and said, "Here I am, for you called me." Then Eli discerned that the LORD was calling the boy. And Eli said to Samuel, "Go lie down, and it shall be if He calls you, that you shall say, 'Speak, LORD, for Your servant is listening.'" So Samuel went and lay down in his place. Then the LORD came and stood and called as at other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" And Samuel said, "Speak, for Your servant is listening."”

Let us also say “Speak, for Your servant is listening.”
