The Ark of the Covenant is one of the most instrumental symbols of faith,
The simplicity of just a box and all the majesty of God’s grace.
The box housed a pot of manna, the rod of Aaron, and the tablets of the law,
It sparkled with supernatural mystery intrigue and awe.
The Ten Commandments were placed carefully inside the ark.
This showed that the moral Law of God would forever be His trademark.
It also represented that the Law would be kept in Jesus Christ,
The true Messiah who shed His blood on the cross who was sacrificed.
Moses was commanded to make an ark out of beautiful acacia wood,
This was faithfully detailed out so he clearly understood.
The Ark was overlaid with gold with a moulding of gold around every bit,
It had four rings with two rings on each side and a pole to hold it.
A pole of acacia wood was placed into the rings to carry the ark,
The box was showcasing the power of a heavenly divine monarch.
The poles for transportation were permanent fixtures never removed,
And the Ark was made only once never to be again improved.
The cover for the Ark of the Covenant was called the Mercy Seat,
The box required an atonement golden cover to make it complete.
There had to be one cherubim of gold on both ends of the mercy seat.
Symbolising the angel’s readiness to do God’s will in a heartbeat.
Unlike the statutes of gods idolised by many of the Israelites,
The Ark served as a religious symbol where the people could meet and unite,
God hovered over the Ark when the priests were present,
If the priests were not there the law tablets were Gods way to represent.
Thus, the Ark was aptly named because of the commandments written on stone,
And the golden seat of judgment to come before and atone.
The mercy seat had the blood sprinkled upon it by the high priest,
This prefigured Christ to come and He is our mercy seat,
There, in and through Christ, God meets us for His embrace,
The Manna and Aaron’s Rod symbolised God’s provision for His race,
The Lord made the rod of the man He had chosen to bud,
Therefore, blood signifies the supreme offering to a righteous holy God.
The curtain was made of blue and scarlet yarn, hanging on four posts,
The colour blue is also significant as a reminder of the heavenly host.
When Jesus was crucified the curtain was torn from top to the ground,
This was a total separation of God from the Israelites all around.
For the Israelites, the Ark of the Covenant meant God’s presence,
Showcasing His power and glory and His supreme omnipresence.
Throughout scripture we see safety and success using the symbol of the Ark.
For example, Noah and the ark and the animals that boarded and embarked.
God isn’t bound by the normal physical processes or natural laws.
And He doesn’t need man’s explanations to validate His supernatural works.
