                                 Trials Prove our Faith

by Robert Schaetzle

Every day through the presence of Gods leading before us, we’re subject to situations to demonstrate the measure of faith we receive. This is proven by our actions. Times when situations come our way that appear as obstacles, are really faith opportunities.

In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.  These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 1 Peter 1:6-7 NIV

A situation might come up at work be to our dislike, or a decision made by one of our children that appears out of order. We must recognize our Lord’s preeminence is there to lead. Times like this our perception of the moment doesn’t make sense, or it appears unstable to accept.

When still working, before retirement, I might have been told, ‘you don’t see the big picture.’

Sometimes decisions made from those we love are stumbling blocks of greater consequences of harm and disappointment. Joseph being sold into slavery by his brothers is example that brought grief to Jacob. Yet, we know the greater blessing that came years later.

We live today is a season we all wish would go away. Concern with the pandemic, the hostile behavior within our social framework, many who have lost great income not being able to work.

God does ‘See The Big Picture.’

For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? Romans 8:24 RSV
