Several years ago, a popular soap opera played a game. Two of the main acting characters, the Dad and his young son, would play a game titled “where are we going?” to the backdrop of a toy train. This was quite an entertaining television adventure, adding to the program’s effects. So, where is America going?
I sincerely believe the age we are living in now is the most prophesied period of human history. Clearly, America seems to be getting ready for a happening of some major proportion. Whether good or evil, it remains to be seen. Clearly, America cannot continue its status quo.
So, what are the most frequently asked questions by today’s populace? They are “when will we get back to normal?”, “When will this abnormal pandemic end?”, “When will all the chaotic, rebellious insurrection end?”
Well, this just may be some of those GOK, God Only Knows questions. I do feel, however, that America’s on borrowed time.
As a typical red-blooded American citizen, holding to the truths of our founding fathers alongside the truths and principles of divine Scripture, (II Timothy 3:16) and (II Peter 1:20-21), I have deep concerns for America’s future. These concerns include America’s progressive, reprehensible conduct. (Isaiah 5:20)
I know I shouldn’t have such a doubtful attitude, as our Creator God is in full control of all happenings including our country’s wicked activities, and the environment of today’s politics. (Daniel 2:19-21) However, oftentimes in my mortal body “The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:41) I guess, it's just that my flesh tends to take over any godly thoughts I may have of future events.
In his recent blog, “Six More Years” the Rabbi Daniel Lapin, in his own words tells us that “One can of course quibble with some of the exact dates but what is certainly unarguable is that throughout history, when large numbers of people have united to build a society, that society nearly always seems to last about an average of 250 years.” He then continues within this blog to give explanation for this statement. I recommend its reading to you.
In his final speech before the Constitutional Convention, Ben Franklin made this remark, "…when you assemble a number of men to have the advantage of their joint wisdom, you inevitably assemble with those men, all their prejudices, their passions, their errors of opinion, their local interests, and their selfish views."
“At the close of the Constitutional Convention of 1787, Franklin was queried as he left Independence Hall on the final day of deliberation. In the notes of Dr. James McHenry, one of Maryland’s delegates to the Convention, a lady asked Dr. Franklin, “Well, Doctor what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?” Franklin replied, “A republic . . . if you can keep it.” (Internet quote)
So, now where are we going? How long do we have left? And, where does The United States of America find itself in the halls of today’s and tomorrow’s progressive, educational and artistic history? Unfortunately, today’s secular life style and the connecting spiritual apostasy have really taken a toll on today’s populace. (II Timothy 3:1-9, 13) (II Timothy 4:3-4) (II Peter 3:3-4)
All civility of reasoning, politeness, and courtesy of America’s spiritual roots, seems to have been lost in its headlong rush to perdition. Is this evil, progressive movement mentioned in the Scriptures? Yes, it’s a spiritual war of many battles. (Ephesians 6:12)
Thus, this little heart-warming fiction blog is entitled “Where are we going?” I trust you will enjoy its spiritually related content.
“Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us.” He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision. Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure “(Psalm 2:1-5)
It’s time, time for the family’s annual vacation to the mountains. The bags are packed. The old station wagon has been serviced. All are ready and raring to go. Ok, gang, let's get to bed early for we have a big day ahead of us.
However, I was a little hesitant in following my own instructions. Lately, it’s getting where I hate risking sleep for fear of my dream world again would appear. Maybe a little warm milk will do the trick. I was out like a light, but that’s when it started happening all over again.
There I was, in my dream world or vision world, whichever the case. I found myself walking along the summit of a high mountain range. Other than the backdrop of mountains, I had no idea where I was. I could no longer speed my travel for fear of losing my footing because it was in the dead of night. It was a nice, cool and breezy night.
I noticed in the distance a dark figure sitting on a rock. He was an older man, his features wrinkled and weather-beaten. He was dressed in what appeared to be ancient survivors’ garb. Coming closer, I found him looking through an antique telescope. As he noticed my arrival, he began to speak.
“May I help you?” he politely asked.
“Yes,” I replied. "Where exactly are we? And what are you doing up here, all alone in the dead of night?”
“You’re on a journey?” he inquired further.
“Yes,” I answered.
"You’re looking for answers. Are you fearful of what’s happening in today’s America?” he continued his inquiry.
“How did you know that?” I asked.
“Believe me, I just do," he answered. "It’s part of my calling to know things. Come now and give a close look-see. It will give you your answer,” and he handed over his telescope.
So, I looked through his telescope into the valley below, and I couldn’t believe my eyes. There was a large cemetery with a banner over the entrance reading “America The Beautiful.”
After seeing this banner, I couldn’t help but scan some of its many tombstones. Each had a uniquely captivating inscription such as, 'Here lies Uncle Sam,' 'Here lies Capitalism,' 'Here lies Freedom,' 'Here lies Religion,' 'Here lies The Bible, 'Here lies Public Prayer,' 'Here lies Peace,' 'Here lies Marriage,' 'Here lies Abortion Repeal,' and 'Here lies Gun Ownership.'
On and on they went, it must have been hundreds of them, mixed in with hundreds of white crosses. All ended with the famous comfort declaration “Rest in Peace.” I had to stop, however, as I couldn’t see for the tears in my eyes.
As I returned the telescope to him, I couldn’t help but think, this great country of ours is falling apart all around us. Our only hope now is the providential care of our Creator. We can’t let go of these freedoms our ancestors fought and died to protect.
“Here’s your telescope, Sir, I’ve seen enough,” I sighed.
“So, what did you see?” he asked.
“I’ll tell you,” I replied, "but let me catch my breath first,” I answered.
“Is it that you can’t explain what you saw or the fact that you actually saw our great “Land of the free, Home of the brave” being dismantled?" he inquired.
“Both," I replied. "At first, I couldn’t believe what I actually observed. Then, I realized why America has changed so. Is our Creator God punishing us?”
No answer was given. He had disappeared, along with all the surrounding scenery. His mission was over. My vision was over as well. I was home.
My bed was soaked, as if with blood. My mind was rattled, and I just couldn’t shake this one. I didn’t want to believe it, this dream or vision, as it was. Had I gone crazy? No way could I have come up with something as detailed as what I had seen on this occasion.
Suddenly it all played out on my television screen just as I remembered. The nightly news was on, giving a vivid detailed account of America’s current socialistic events. Events such as those dreadful tombstones displayed seemed to all be coming true.
Instantly, I found myself on my knees. I knew I’d been missing church lately. (I John 1:8-9) I must call my pastor.
“Pastor, pastor, please pick up. We really need to talk.” End of story, beginning of the ministry. Amen!
I trust you enjoyed this little fiction blog. Was this dream or vision a warning of things to come, or the end result of America’s socialistic and religious apostasy? Is America completely out of control? Can America be saved? Yes! (II Chronicles 7:14)
I realize, America only has about six years to prove history wrong. We may be living on borrowed time. However, don’t forget, and don’t leave our Creator God out of this picture. He created this great universe of ours and controls it all. Even though other great civilizations have folded, His hand was in that bit of history as well.
We are not to live in a spirit of fear. We should live under the control of God’s power, His love, and the sound mind He has given us.
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (II Timothy 1:7)
In doing so, we will find a life of perfect peace. Regardless of what the world tells us. Amen!
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)
