Who controls your thoughts? The way we think is the person we are. Satan is a master at gaining entry into our thoughts. He's had over 6000 years to understand the human mind. If he can control our minds, he can easily implant suggestive thought processes to get you to do things or believe things that you think are your own ideas. Take for instance the people I have been having written communication over the internet in the past few months. People who have been totally brainwashed into believing that we evolved from a swamp and grew from fish to monkey's before we became human. When you say to them, they must have great faith to believe that everything came from nothing, they get very annoyed and rave on about how science has proven that we evolved and this is the true fact of our existence. If you quote the Bible, they call you a fool for believing such superstitious nonsense. Of course, the majority have never held a Bible in their hands, let along read its pages, so why bother discussing with them? Doesn't Paul tell Timothy - as we read in our scripture reading - to avoid people who use contradictions, which they call science? Yes, we should not get bogged down in discussions, which become overheated and personal, but as Christians it is our duty to try and save someone who is on the road to eternal death. Of course, we cannot force them to get them to change their mind, which has been totally made up for them, without their knowledge. Because they do not believe in heaven or hell, Satan has an open door to their mind. It would be impossible for us alone to change their thinking. However, God can. The Holy Spirit can work through our words to reach a lost soul.
It is easy to be discouraged when others berate us for our belief. it hurts because we are not trying to change others to be clones of ourselves, we are trying to open their minds to a better and more sure future, both here on this earth and on the earth to come. We don't want people to die through ignorance we just want them to know God.
I never let a discussion last too long, as you can generally see where it’s going, so I politely agree to disagree and leave them to ponder my words and let the Holy Spirit do his magic on their hearts. I might never see his results, but I hope one day to meet someone in the kingdom who finally accepted God because I took the time to share my faith in Jesus. I’m sure we all would like to see the results of our conversations with others? As people of God, we are entrusted with his Holy Word, so we should use it wisely!
Hatred of the Bible
Satan hates the Bible and has put into the minds of millions that it is only a book and has no particular special properties. A book, written by fallible men about a God who is made up from their own imagination. Of course, he doesn't tell people this directly. If he showed himself to them, he would expose himself and therefore, people would see him for what he is - a liar and potential usurper of the Kingdom of God, which is his goal. He wants humans to worship him and reject their creator. What better way to take a swipe at God by getting his creation to dishonour him by fooling them that he does not exist and they are only here on earth by chance.
The Bible says:
“You that boasts of the law, by breaking the law you dishonour God.”Romans 2:24.
The danger today lies in rejecting God in favour of things of this world.
We live in a technological age of computers a smart TV’s. Our time and our minds are focused by these innovations, and one thing we do not have much of is time. The mind is a very tender thing. it is easily distracted away from reading God's word, to watching a tv programme or playing on our Iphones. Whilst these innovations can be an asset, (I would not have been able to produce this sermon so quickly without my computer), they can also be a pitfall. For sabbath we are told that we should think and do spiritual thinks! Easier said than done, Yes? We get distracted with text messages or emails and this takes our minds to secular things.
Opra Winfray Show
Not long ago I watched a tv programme hosted by Opra Winfray who was having a discussion with a Seventh Day Adventist Pastor. They were discussing the Sabbath day. Opra was told by the Pastor that he kept Saturday as the Sabbath day and this day was changed by the church. As you are probably aware Opra Winfray, who was at the time, a devout Christian, therefore she was very interested in what the Pastor was saying. He informed her that he didn’t do certain things on the Sabbath, in accordance with the command of God. He said that during the week, he was constantly answering emails and text messages, so he made a decision to switch off his mobile (cell) phone during the Sabbath hours of sunset Friday to Sunset Saturday. This meant that he could dedicate the hours of Sabbath to God and not be interrupted by email’s or texts from friends and colleagues who wished to discuss secular matters on a Saturday.
It is easy to be distracted by the phone we have in our pocket, even when we use our mobile phones as a Hymn book because texts and messages still come on the phone during the service, as well as news stories, which keep popping up. I am guilty of glancing at the news during Sabbath hours, so it is better that we all switch off our phones and use the hymn books provided in church. Satan wants our minds away from God, especially during Sabbath hours, so we have to be very alert and disciplined.
Charles Darwin and Evolution
Before the 1800’s, there was no such thing as the theory of evolution. People either believed in God or they did not.
Charles Darwin was a Christian but when he lost his daughter to illness, he started to question his faith. He let his guard down due to bereavement, therefore the devil gained access to his mind and he soon rejected a creator God in favour of the evolution of species.
Let’s have a quick look at a few facts about the theory of evolution.
Frank Lewis Marsh was an American Seventh Day Adventist biologist, educator and a young earth creationist. He was born in Aledo, Illinois on 18 October 1899 and lived to a good age of 93 years. He was a founding member of the Creation Research Society. He said:
“The majority of scientists today think they are building upon facts, but is it possible that the ‘facts’ upon which the Theory of Evolution is built are merely the arbitrary conclusions of overly wishful observers.”
Evolution, Creation and Science. Frank Lewis Marsh Ph.D. 1944. page 4
And the following is an article by Dr George Wald, who was a biology professor at Harvard University (B. 18 November 1906-D. 12 April 1997). In 1954, he had an article published in ‘Scientific American’ as follows:
“We tell this story (of Pasteur’s work), to beginning students of biology as though it represents a triumph of reason over mysticism. In fact, it is very nearly the opposite. The reasonable view was to believe in spontaneous generation, there is no third position. For this reason, many scientists a century ago chose to regard the belief in spontaneous generation as a ‘philosophical necessity.’ It is a symptom of the philosophical poverty of our time that this necessity is no longer appreciated. Most modern biologists have reviewed with satisfaction the downfall of the spontaneous generation hypothesis, yet unwilling to accept the alternative belief in a special creation, are left with nothing.”
Why Professor Marsh considers it a ‘reasonable view' to believe in a process of evolution that has been disproven, is not known, nevertheless he is honest enough to admit that science has no alternative but to believe in spontaneous generation or if they do not, they would have to believe in a divine creator!
(It should be noted that it was Louis Pasteur who disproved spontaneous generation in a laboratory test).
Later in the same article Professor Wald admits:
"One has only to contemplate the magnitude of this task (that is the fitting together of complex organisms, molecule to molecule, which no chemist could replicate), to concede that the spontaneous generation of a living organism is impossible."
yet, he goes on to say:
"Here we are, as a result, I believe, in spontaneous generation."
So, science continues to promote the theory of spontaneous generation even though proven false. Surely this cannot be true science?
Theory of Uniformity
Next we have the ‘Theory of Uniformity. Sir Charles Lyell, an English geologist stated:
"The present is a measure of the past and all the past."
In other words, we can determine what has happened in the past by watching what is happening in the present. For example, If hills are being eroded away by the action of water and swampy places are being raised above the level of the waters by the deposit of silt, there is, says Lyell, a small-scale exhibit of what has happened in the dim past in the changing of great masses of the earth and the depositing of various strata. If one is to believe in this theory, then one must believe in large amounts of endless time for changes to occur to living matter. There can be no place for a giant catastrophic event (such as the Biblical flood),happening in the past to account for any major geological changes to the earth. It was Charles Darwin, who transferred the discussion of evolution from the realm of philosophy, to that of science through his book: ‘The Origin of the Species’, in 1859. Darwin accredited Charles Lyell as the main influence in writing his book.
The following is an extract from ‘God and Evolution’ by Francis D Nichol, Review and Herald, 1957, page 14:
“So, if uniformity is true, then time must play a great part in earth’s structural changes. Therefore, time becomes a substitute for the miraculous. Given enough time, the impossible becomes possible, yet is it not much easier to believe the miracles of the Bible than believe the kind of miracles that evolutionists demand?”
There is another dilemma for the evolutionist. According to them all the correct elements must combine to create life. They cannot, however, explain how it is that when a living organism dies, it still consists of all the right elements for life, but there is no life in it? A dead person has all the right elements to be alive, yet he or she is dead and they cannot bring the life back into the brain. Did you know that an evolutionist has to assume as true what has to be proven? Let me rephrase this: evolutionists have to assume something is true before it is proven. Contrary to all their belief that life evolved in a primeval swamp, they are fully aware that it remains a hypothesis, yet they teach this as fact in our schools.
A Belief in Evolution is based on faith.
In 1925, Louis Trenchard More, Dean of the Graduate School, University of Cincinnati, delivered a series of lectures at Princeton University. He comes to this general conclusion:
"the more one studies palaeontology, the more certain one can be that evolution is based on faith alone; exactly the same sort of faith which it is necessary to have when one encounters the great mysteries of religion the changes that are noted as time progresses show no orderly and no consecutive evolutionary chain and, above all, they give us no clue whatsoever as to the cause of variations. Evolutionists would have us believe that they have photographed the succession of fauna and flora, and have arranged them on a vast moving picture film. Its slow unrolling takes millions of years. a few pictures, mostly vague, defaced and tattered, occasionally attract our attention. between these memorials of the past are enormous lengths of films containing no pictures at all? and we cannot tell whether these parts are blanks or whether the impression has faded from sight/is the scenario a continuous changing show or is it a succession of static events? the evidence from palaeontology is for discontinuity; only by faith and imagination is there continuity of variation.” The Dogma of Evolution, PP 1,60,160 (Princeton, NJ): Princeton University Press, 1925
Dean Trenchard declared:
"I accept the general doctrine of the evolution of organisms as a deductive theory."_ ibid. p163.
Consequently, he did not lack the faith on which he confessed evolution is based. he simply exercised his faith in behalf of the theory of evolution instead of creationism, as do all those who believe in evolution.
Ultimately evolutionists must believe in a miracle that living organisms sprang from non-living matter and time performed the miracle of life. How logical is that? Is that not an act of philosophical faith? Scientists who believe in evolution do so, not because they can prove the theory, but because they have no alternative rather than admit they are wrong, they vociferously vilify and are aggressively intolerant of anyone who disagrees with their theories.as it science to say it is true because of the law of probability'? No, it is speculation and assumption wrapped up in fancy words to fool the masses.
The attack on the twin towers in September 2001 was a turning point in this world, but it wasn't the greatest tragedy to happen to humanity. The world changed after Darwin's book gained worldwide popularity. Men began to reject a divine beginning in favour of a crawl from a slimy swamp. They deliberately rejected the plain word of Scripture that long-ago God created the heavens and the earth.
Let's read what Peter says:
“Knowing this first, that scoffers will come in the last days walking after their own lusts and saying. "where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation." for this they wilfully forget that by the Word of God, the heavens were of old, and the earth, standing out of water and in water, by which the world that then existed perished being flooded with water. But the heavens and the earth, which now exist are kept in store by the same word reserved for fire until the day of Judgment and perdition of ungodly men.” 2 Peter 3:3:7
A Prophetic Warning
Not long after the theory of evolution gained popularity, Ellen G White wrote the following:
"I have been warned that henceforth we shall have a constant contest. science, so called, and religion will be placed in opposition to each other, because finite men do not comprehend the power and greatness of God. these words of holy writ were presented to me, of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them." - E.G. White, Medical Ministry, p.98
Time has proven her words to be true. Many leaders in our churches today have rejected the creation story in favour of the theory of evolution. As leaders of the flock, they will be the first to suffer god's wrath.
Turn with me to Jeremiah 23 and verses 1 and 2:
"Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! says the Lord. Therefore, thus says the Lord God of Israel against the shepherds who feed my people, you have scattered my flock, driven them away and not attended to them. Behold I will attend to you for the evil of your doings….” says the Lord.
Do not be ashamed of the Gospel
We should never be ashamed of the gospel and should share it whenever we have a chance to do so. It is the power of God, to salvation for everyone who believes - for Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written: the just shall live by faith. Romans 1:16-17.
Proof of a Creator God?
It is very difficult to prove there is a God, but it is not impossible, his invisible attributes are clearly seen in the things that are made so those who profess a belief in evolution are denying their own senses, so they are without excuse. Romans 1:20. They profess wisdom but their hearts have been darkened by Satan, so they have become fools and worship or idolise objects and things made with human hands, what therefore has God done? He hasn't killed them. He has allowed them to remain in their uncleanliness and abuse themselves with their vile passions. Women and men have exchanged the natural use of their flesh doing what is unnatural for which they will receive the penalty for their sin. By removing God from their thoughts and denying his existence, they have debased their minds and allowed Satan to fill the void in their conscience, consequently they break God's law daily with their unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil mindedness, backbiting, hating God, violent and proud boasters. They invent many ways to do evil things. They are disobedient to their parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful. even though many know the righteous judgement of God, they prefer to practice such evil things, which lead only to eternal death and those who should know better not only do the same evil but also approve of those who practice them. Romans 1:24-32.
Fulfilling of Prophecy
Are we not seeing these words fulfilled in our day? Priests, Ministers, Pastors, giving their approval to same sex marriages, which God explicitly condemns. Have we heard any dissenting voices amongst the clergy? Why not? because they would be unpopular and might lose their secure job but most of all they have disregarded the creation account given in the book of Genesis, which clearly states God created everything in this world in six days and he made male and female. By denying this, they have lost the protection of God, therefore their minds are wide open to Satanic influences. They have joined with the evolutionists, which is the greatest lie ever told and therefore, they now belong to their father the devil, who was a liar from the beginning.
With superstitions of the past giving way to modern 'science', what better way to lead men away from God than to fool them into thinking there is no God and consequently, no devil. By appealing to modern human logic and academic intellect, the devil has flattered men of worldly influence into thinking themselves master of their own destiny, who have no need of a saviour. My question would be to those outside the Christian church:
"Are you men who came from the hand of a divine God, created in perfection, or the offspring of monkey's?"
One day everyone will have to decide what to believe , which is why I embrace the discussions I have had with those who do not believe in a creator God. It may seem futile and hurtful at times, to be called a superstisous fool, but my faith is strong enough to understand that those who personally berate me are wilfully ignorant of the truth. It is not up to me to convict a person’s heart. I plant the seed by being a messenger. The Holy Spirit waters the seed. It may take time, or the person might completely shut their ears, mind and heart and totally reject the message, to their eternal loss, but God does not easily give up because every human soul is precious to him. He has a place for them if they will accept his call.
May the reader share the words of this sermon to all they know and take up the Bible to learn more each day.
