He told her, "Go, call your husband and come back." John 4:16 NIV
At first glance one might wonder about the relevance of Jesus’ statement here to the Samaritan woman. But, as we know, there is no irrelevance on what our Lord says.
This woman had deep within her a desire for something more than what she possessed. She did not realize that her spirit yearned for something, not knowing it was Christ for which she yearned.
To get to the spiritual desire, first the carnal desires within her needed to be dug out. The sin that was within needed to be unearthed. One cannot receive a spiritual awakening without first repenting of the evil contained within.
Jesus’ statement to the woman was to probe. It was to see if this woman was ready to look inside herself to see the change which would be required to see a spiritual awakening.
Do you recall the inner reflection which you needed to face in order to have received your spiritual awakening? Keep reflecting on anything you may need to do in order to totally awaken the spiritual desires your soul is yearning to have. Take action where needed!
