. The world is at a time when one has to decide what to believe, or whom to trust. There are many “voices“ speaking. Some are truthful, but some are deceptive. This is especially true with the Coronavirus. How does one know what is real truth? Is there anything, or any person, that is trustworthy enough to stake your life on, literally? Who or what can give you peace, purpose, and a confident assurance in the midst of life’s uncertainty? There has to be something with all the fear, panic, and uncertainty, that will provide an answer. Many things in the culture have provided a false sense of security. Sports, entertainment, movies, and concerts, can all provide a temporary means of escape and distraction from one’s emotional issues of life. Even these, for a time, have been taken away. The world wants a source of truth and hope in this very difficult time. Depression and domestic violence have seen a dramatic uptick caused by being home a lot. People have not been able to “get away” from their problems. This pandemic, and all the fear associated with it (even though it may be human initiated) is showing human beings how fragile and vulnerable we are to the emotional storms of life. It is showing that we are not as capable as we thought in handling what life throws at us.
Thousands of years ago the inspired writers of the Bible predicted that at some point in the future of humanity, very difficult times would come. In lots of ways the world is at that point.
You and I need something that can give us emotional stability and be an anchor of our soul. There needs to be something or someone that can fill the spiritual void in our lives, that all the entertainment, wealth, and material possessions can never satisfy. Jesus Christ, God’s Son in human flesh, can calm the emotional storms in your soul. He can give you a peace that passes all human understanding. He can give you hope that is not of this world. Jesus died for your sins and rose from the dead so that you can receive forgiveness for anything you have ever done, and power to live a better life. Jesus is the only One who qualifies in all of history to be the world’s Savior and Redeemer! “He shall be the stability of your times, a wealth of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge...” (Isaiah 33:6). I do not know how the virus has affected you and your family. I do know that you don’t have to live in fear or hopelessness any longer. You are only one decision away from experiencing the love and grace of God. Your world may have been put on hold and out of control, but this can be your opportunity to accept God who is in control. “Trust in the Lord forever, for in God the Lord, we have an everlasting Rock”(Isaiah 26:4).
