He did not know where it was from, but the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone serves the fine wine first, and then the cheap wine after the guests are drunk. But you have saved the fine wine until now!” John 2:9b-10 NIV
This passage allows us to note that the jars being filled with water had been done out of the view of the wedding attendees and the master of the banquet. Not only had our Lord turned the water into wine, but into a fine wine. Certainly, the master of the banquet had been to other weddings and probably had tasted some good wines. But to make the comment which he did here lets us know that this wine was quite fine.
I wonder what the thoughts of the servants were upon knowing that the water they had poured into the jars had been turned into wine. What are your thoughts after seeing Jesus answer a prayer for you? Was it in the manner you had expected, or differently? Christ is steadfast in His love for us and does supply for our needs as He deems appropriate. He does that which no one else can do for each of us. Marvel at the wonderful deeds of the Lord!
