Taking Hold God’s Word is Finding His Preeminence by Robert Schaetzle
“This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; be not frightened, neither be dismayed; for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:8-9 (RSV)
This instruction from Joshua was from a moment past when he was assigned the leadership for Israel. Moses was informed he would not be able to enter this ‘Promised Land,’ flowing with milk and honey.
Invitation from our Lord to recognize His abiding presence, living within the heart of each follower. God’s Holy Spirit is there to hasten our need to recognize His preeminence. Laying up God’s word in our heart brings promise to win over anxiousness and unnecessary fear.
Our Republic, we call the United States of America, is also, a land flowing with milk and honey. However, with the recent outbreak of ‘covid-19 virus,’ many appear to be in desperation, in our land or other parts of the world. They don’t understand the ‘fruit of God’s promise.’
But as we ‘take hold His preeminence,’ His promise is never to forsake or leave us. God didn’t forsake the Israelites, nor will He let go His promise for us today!
Most definitely, His promise will strengthen our own spirit, to stay the course and lead us to finish the race He set us on.
‘Father, thank you for the preeminence of ‘Your Word’ in our own heart to go before us, whatever our circumstance, wherever we go.’
