Adopting Blessed Virtues And Preparing For A Complete Transformation

Scared by the judgement about to befall the wicked, each group of people asked John the Baptist.. “What should we do?”

To the people…Be generous-sharing and caring

“He answered and said to them, “He who has two tunics, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.””

Luke 3:11 (NKJV)

We cannot expect to be spared (from God’s wrath) unless we have enough cared for others (in God’s love). A true Christian believer exhibits God’s love in providing for the needy, broken hearted and the poor. God has not provided for us so we may consume it all, rather also to distribute, care and share.

To the publicans…Be sincere

And he said to them, “Collect no more than what is appointed for you.” Luke 3:13 (NKJV)

We cannot just talk holy while our walk is unholy, for ‘who we are’ speaks louder than ‘what we say’. We as Christian believers need to be found guilty in nothing and thus need to very sincerely and truthfully administer our duties bestowed upon us by the Lord God.

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for[a] you serve the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:23-24 (NKJV)

Our accountability even in our work places is to God and our rewards and promotions come from Him alone.

“I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;
For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Psalms 4:8 (NKJV)

To the soldiers….be peaceful, truthful and contented.

“Likewise the soldiers asked him, saying, “And what shall we do?”

So he said to them, “Do not intimidate anyone or accuse falsely, and be content with your wages.”

Luke 3:14 (NKJV)

Defenders of the law should be keepers of the law themselves and drive confidence and truthfulness in the society. They need to be content with what they get, for much more than the soon-fading mammon, their true wages is the respect and dignity in who they are and what they do.

“You have put gladness in my heart,
More than in the season that their grain and wine increased.”

Psalms 4:7 (NKJV)

Yet the greatest of news is yet to come….

“John answered, saying to all, “I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather the wheat into His barn; but the chaff He will burn with unquenchable fire.”

Luke 3:16-17 (NKJV)

Over and above and far more blessed than all these virtues is the infilling of the Holy Spirit, which the Lord intends to impart to all who earnestly and expectantly wait upon Him.

Yet still the judgement day is unavoidable and God will surely use His winnowing fan, thoroughly clean His threshing floor and then shall the wheat and the chaff be separated for their respective destiny.

It all depends on what we choose and decide – the Axe is laid at the root of the tree and the winnowing fan is in God’s hand.

Let’s target a blessed eternity with God having chosen to live righteously filled and always led by the Holy Spirit.

God Bless.
