God gave you a gift when He saved your soul,
To give Jesus glory, but your heart has turned cold.
Have you used the gift that God has given you?
Have you been willing to do what God would have you do?
Have you taken the time to whisper a sinner’s name in prayer?
Have you knelt before the throne, helping other’s burdens bear?
Stop making excuses for your idle word and pace,
Draw close to Jesus and help others win this race.
Mount above the fuss and worry of this world and all its strife,
Build a bridge toward heaven where we’ll have eternal life.
Work in God’s kingdom; whether in prayer, preaching or song,
Point some soul toward heaven at the foot of our Savior’s throne.
In Matthew 25:14-30, KJV, Jesus talks about the consequences of an unprofitable servant. God has given each person his own individual gift. It is interesting to see in this parable of talents that the unprofitable servant was the one who was given the least amount of talents with which to work. Many people may think they haven’t got a special job to do for God unless the job seems really ‘important’. But all work which is done for the glory of God is priceless.
The Apostle Paul was highly educated to the point he could have bedazzled people with his knowledge. However Paul said to the church in Corinth, “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power. That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 2:4-5) Each person has to get their priorities straightened out. Are you attempting to glorify God or glorify yourself?
Father, let all we do be for Your honor and glory and not our own. Help us be a diligent and profitable servant in Jesus name. Amen.
