A Greater Fact To Be Kept In Mind Always
Salvation is not just established merely by words, it is proven in a changed life which is a blessing to others and glory to the Father.
“Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.”
Luke 3:8 (NKJV)
John the Baptist was very clear and bold when it came to accepting claims of being saved, fruits have to be seen, and a changed life driven by Godly love is the required proof of salvation.
“A painted fire cannot warm, a painted banquet cannot satisfy hunger, and a formal religion cannot bring peace to the soul.” J.C.Ryle in “Formality.”
Today amongst the crowd of the so called professed ‘saved’ Christians are those whom Ryle refers as ‘formals’ and as wonderfully stated that if our Godly attributes are just like painted pictures of ‘fire’ and a ‘banquet’, It will never give the results, warmth and the satisfaction.
James mentions this clearly that ‘faith without works is dead’…
“Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead…..Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”
James 2:17-18 (NKJV)
Ryle further mentions very clearly the ill-effects of a formal faith in ‘Formality’…
“None seem to become so desperately hard as those who are continually repeating holy
words and handling holy things, while their hearts are running after sin and the world. Landlords who only go to church formally, to set an example to their tenants; masters who have family prayers formally, to keep up a good appearance in their households; unconverted clergymen who are every week reading prayers and lessons of Scripture in which they feel no real interest; unconverted singers who sing the most spiritual hymns every Sunday merely because they have good voices, while their affections are entirely on things below—all are in awful
Is this not true even today, yet there is a greater fact to be kept in mind always…
“….He who formed the eye, shall He not see?” Psalms 94:9 (NKJV)
We can never ever hide anything from God, He sees through our pretense and knows us inside out.
Let’s seek salvation, life and a true change, let’s bow down in prayer, weep and seek the Lord wholeheartedly. Gracious is He that all we would ever know, ‘slow to anger and abounding in love.’ He will surely change us to be fruitful and blessed.
As He grafts us into His blessed body as a branch to the tree, let’s pursue to abide in Him and then shall we be truly fruitful.
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.”
John 15:5-8 (NKJV)
