In all of the talk about gun control and the rights given by the Second Amendment, Luke records Jesus saying something that would be considered today on the side of gun ownership. So, 2,000 years ago when Jesus walked on the earth, he was the first to mention the use of arms in the case of self-defense. Here is what is recorded in Luke 11:21-22. Jesus said, “When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own homestead, his possessions are undisturbed. But when someone stronger than he attacks him and overpowers him, he takes away from him all his armor on which he had relied, and distributes his plunder.” Who says the Bible is not relevant for today? Sorry, liberals. If Jesus said it, then it has to be correct. Not only that, but this was demonstrated at the recent big pro-gun rally. Those from the outside who were going to come to cause violence, didn’t show up. They didn’t want to be confronted by thousands of fully-armed people. That pretty much sums it up. Jesus said it 2,000 years ago, and the gun rally proved it 2,000 years later.
Jesus also said that what a person says or does is a reflection of his character. The Bible says the human heart can be “desperately wicked.”
People want to deny the sinfulness of humanity in need of God’s grace. They, therefore, want to make guns the problem, where the real problem is the sinfulness of his character, manifested by the person pulling the trigger.
