The Bible has many prophetic mysteries. There are mysteries of life and death, of yesterday, today and of the future. Some are easily interpreted, some are left up to the imagination, others remain unknown, but all to be proven sooner or later. (II Peter 1:20-21)
We don't know exactly when our Creator God, will pull the curtain on all humanity, when life here on earth as we know it to be will be suspended and disrupted in the blink of an eye by a voice and a trumpet. We do know however, that Scripture has proven prophecy to be a fact of truth. One need only compare today's lifestyle to the dictates of Scripture to realize this fact. (II Peter 2:1-3)
It is my sincere prayer that your knowledge of prophecy will be enhanced in the reading of this blog, "The Mysteries That Bind." " And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed." (Romans 13:11)I was in the church library, about to finish my dissertation research on end time prophecy. It was there that I saw his name. He was not listed as a main character but as a side note of my research. He is a well-known Jewish prophecy researcher, according to the many titles he has earned. If only I could meet him, just to spend a little time with him. Oh well, I must move on.
I wrapped up my study and was about to leave the library, when the vision began suddenly and without warning, as if by divine direction. Why me? What could I, a first year seminary Bible student, possibly add to a vision of this caliber?
All of a sudden, I found myself sitting on the cliff of a very high mountain, overlooking the entire world. Looking below, the whole world was beneath my feet. I felt a peaceful sense of calm, surrounded by an occasional glow of bright lights and sound of penetrating music echoing off the mountain ridges. The scene created in me a serene sense of pleasure.
Looking around, I found a rather strange character sitting on one of the mountain edges overlooking the landscape. I sat down beside him. He was dressed in a long black jacket. His prominent black curly side-locks protruded from under his yarmulke. Speaking in broken English and taking my hand, this strange-looking character and I moved down the mountain and entered a synagogue below
"We are entering the house of mysteries, mysteries that bind, mysteries of God's plan of the ages. Prophecy is very important to God and it’s His desire that we understand His plans, especially His plans for the future," my guide declared.
Donning a colorful prayer shawl, he pulled a scroll from off the shelf and began his reading.
Then he spoke. "'This scroll puts us in another realm, a realm of events that will shortly come to pass. These are events of time and space, woven together by the hand of Providence."
Taking a few moments to study the wording of the scroll, he then continued. "The holy Scripture has not given us a date or time of these events. (Matthew 24:36) Scripture does, however, give us certain warning signs to watch for."
"Where may I find such prophecy?" I responded with anticipation.
"When you were on the top of the world, if you had known what to look for, you would have observed such symptoms," he answered.
"Even now, if I told you where to search, without divine guidance, you might be as they were. (II Peter 3:3-4) You too may be at odds with your conscience," he concluded.
Without delay, replacing the scroll on the shelf, he led the way to another portion of the synagogue, housing even more scrolls.
Searching over the scrolls, he selected a large, older scroll and began reading silently. This time, as he read, I could translate from his facial expressions, that what he was reviewing was appalling, a shock of bad news. He quickly then closed this scroll.
"Sir, will you please share your thoughts and your reasoning from your reading, what you happened to discover?" I asked.
It was at this time that it all came together, as he shared with me the prophecies of this scroll. "My son, we are living in a time like none other. It will be a time of Christian apostasy, unlike any other which Scripture references as in the last days," he began (II Timothy 3:1).
"And the characteristics of this era will only intensify. (I Timothy 4-1-5) Within the reading of this scroll, we see a vivid description of mass corruption, of a breakdown of law and tradition," he went on. (II Timothy 3:2-9.13)
Replacing that scroll, he reached for another one. As he continued his reading at an even more intensified pace, I knew from his exasperation and the frustration on his face that this scroll had to be as revealing or maybe more so than the last.
"Sir, what is this one all about? Would you mind sharing?" I inquired, not expecting an answer.
Surprisingly he did respond, rather tearfully. "My son, a time will come, and has apparently come now when people will no longer be content to hear the sound teaching of the Scripture, but will be encouraged to turn to many different teachers of untruthful church doctrine." (II Timothy 4:3-4)
Putting away this last scroll, he took my hand as we exited the synagogue. "What now," I asked. "What about the signs we discussed earlier? Are you now prepared to share this Scripture? I really would like to know how close we are to the end times and to this apostasy," I questioned.
However, the Bible scholar had disappeared, as if in a cloud of smoke. He had moved on, and so did the synagogue. All were gone in the twinkle of an eye. Where did he go? Where do I think he is? I have no idea, probably somewhere teaching and revealing Bible prophecy, I would surmise.
If only my vision hadn't ended so abruptly without my questions being answered. Nonetheless, I wrote it all down, the entire vision, as I remembered it.
Now on with the research, on with burning the midnight oil. With a little prayerful help and divine nudging, I should quickly have the answers in time to finish my dissertation. Wow, what a story to tell! What a show and tell I'll have for my class!
By the way, who was the main character of the blog, that well-educated Bible scholar? I have a good idea. (Hebrews 13:2) Amen!
I trust that you have increased your knowledge of the end times by the reading of this fiction blog. Knowledge is not enough, however. This knowledge will only profit if you put it to work. It must lead to additional actions of confession, repentance, rededication, and Christian commitment.
Are you ready, if it comes in your lifetime, the end to civilization as we now know it to be? When the binding of this all important mystery comes calling, will you be ready to answer the call?
As we get closer to the end, many people, including men of the cloth, will claim to have the answer to a troubled world. They will pretend to know the truth of the matter. The end of time may be near, but as Christians, our future is secure.
The next blessed event on God's prophecy calendar is the Rapture. The Bible explains this Rapture to be a sudden, unexpected catching away of all true Christian believers, both living and dead, to meet the Savior in the air. (Revelation 4:1) (I Corinthians 15:51-52) (I Thessalonians 4:16-17)
There are no added prophecies that need be fulfilled for this event to happen. Get ready for the trip of a lifetime!
