Have you read your Bible lately? Do you keep up with today's liberal news media? Then, have you paralleled your reading of the Holy Scripture to today’s socially cultured news cycle? We are surely living in exciting times. This period of history was referenced in the Bible as the last days.
Today's progressive thinkers label these times as social reform. However, the Scripture refers to today’s era as the end times. It's the time leading up to our Lord's return.
Oh, I know this theology doesn't set well with today’s liberal generation. The Bible speaks to this in (II Peter 3:3-4). And one need only read (II Timothy 3:1-9, 23) (II Timothy 4:3-4) to get a taste of today's cultural characteristics. I realize also that today’s populace seems to be either distracted or fed up with today’s politics. So I trust this simple life parable, that of an earthly story with a heavenly meaning, will reach out and grab hold of your thinking. So on with the story, "The Stage Is Set."
"The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left. Even as fools walk along the road, they lack sense and show everyone how stupid they are." (Ecclesiastes 10:2-3)
I'm so tired of this tough political world I've been forced into. Before I continue with my campaigning, I must have some rest. I think I can get a hold on it all by getting a good night's rest for a change.
Let me please hit the hay in peace, this time around. Not so, however, for I had no more laid down for this peaceful night's rest, than I was quickly shifted off into another of my politically-related dreams. Why me, why am I here in this dream world?.
I don't really know how I can convey this doubtful situation. How unlikely that this would happened to me, an up-and-coming political novelist. You see. I had always been a doubter. I doubted everything except what I could see with my own eyes. So that's where it all began, with my own eyes. I suddenly found myself alone on the stage of a rather large political rally, experiencing all the shouts and slogan-beariing signs of a rather exuberant political audience.
The entire place was packed to capacity, both the main level and the balconies. There were two large curtains located on either side of the stage. The curtain on the right was draped with a pure white fabric composition which seem to glow in the background of the stage lights. The curtain on the left was just the exact opposite of the other. For it was draped in a dark black fabric shadowed by a large black cloud underneath the same stage lights. As I walked in closer, I noticed the curtains both had contrasting entrance Information signs. The right one read 'The Past' and the left one read 'The Present,' "This is surely kind of strange," I thought. Then, as if by divine intervention, a man appearing to be the rally leader approached the stage. This man had all the characteristics of being a well- polished politician. Looking me over from head to toe, he began to speak. “Welcome my child, I see this is your first political rally," he began.
"Just how did he know this?" I pondered under my breath. Then he continued, "Here on our stage are two very important closed curtains, comparing the Past with the Present. The Past was based on the dictates of America's founding fathers and our Creator's objectives. The Present represents today's progressive socialist society and the resulting effects of this philosophy on today's culture."
"So now, your assignment my child, as an up and coming political expert, is to rely on your expertise as a person of history and faith in your evaluations," he stated. "You are to review both environments and make a choice for the betterment of our country based on yesterday and today's environmental findings."
"Then, after comparing these issues, you are to outline your reasoning and recommendations to this vast audience of prospective and seasoned voters. In other words, the stage is set. America's electorate is in dire need of correct godly advice. So say a little prayer, and have at it," he concluded. As if by providence I found myself moving towards the door to the right. Seems as if I should go first to the Past, and then compare the Past with the Present.
As I pulled back the first curtain, I immediately found myself in the midst of an old 1950's theater. The setting instantly brought back memories. The small black and white screen setting was kind of faded and the sound was crackly. The show had just ended and the Movietone newsreel was beginning. So I sit down near the front, being the only onlooker.
Surrounded by the customary related music, the newsreel began. "Now sit back and enjoy a glimpse our times as seen through the eyes of a newsreel cameraman," the narrator announced.
What a newsreel production! The visual effect was amazing. People were holding faith in the highest regard. People were relying on simple hand-shake contracts, and working hard as a group. The American flag was proudly waving throughout the country. The Ten Commandments were being display at will. Memorial crosses were erected in the appropriate locations.
The US Congress was shown believing and talking their religious beliefs. Christianity was freely being talked and preached within all aspects of our country, both private and public. Prayers were being offered at all public assemblies. Patriotic music was being played by the various military service bands on holidays. The Bible was proudly on display in our military installations.
'Merry Christmas' was the greeting of the day. The manger scene was displayed at all public and governmental buildings. .
Bibles were seen being freely passed out in schools, hotels and hospitals. Bible classes were being offered in schools for credit. Christian devotionals were broadcast over the school PA systems. The U.S. Pledge of Allegiance was mandatory in all schools.
The Bible was seen as the main attraction in the home, lying displayed on the coffee table. Bible studies are held openly in private homes.
Then, at the ending of the newsreel the narrator asked the watching audience to joint in by repeating the Lord's Prayer with him that was displayed on the screen. And with that I left the theater. Wow, I’ve now seen it all. "America is still beautiful," I thought, while holding back the proud tears as I left the theater.
As I entered the Present theater, it was an entirely different layout. The large, rounded screen was in HD living color and the surround sound seemed to penetrate the entire theater. Instead of the narrated old-fashioned Movietone script, the entire production was all up to date with news breaks interrupting the various showings.
However, these flashes were very bad for our country, almost unbelievable to the average Christian. These news breaks surely were depressing to watch. America's Constitution and Declaration of Independence was being shredded by the courts and by public opinion before our very eyes. Government corruption, at all levels of government, was being brought about by unrealistic laws and the public demanding of certain ungodly applications.
True education was also put down by the society's agenda. Prayer and Bible reading was a no-no in the schools, with a penalty of permanent expulsion given for its use.
The Biblical laws of marriage and of unborn life were struck down by the courts. And such chaotic happenings as civil lawlessness, property destruction and personal injury ran rampant everywhere.
Religion was belittled, as were the fundamental church doctrines. Christian apostasy was diminishing church attendance, and just plain evil was all around. The only religious speech allowed on the major air waves was dictated solely by the progressive, socialistic political agenda.
Coupled with these happenings was the onset of unusual weather patterns causing major property damage, injury and death.
By this time I had had enough of this modern day propaganda, so I quickly exited the theater. "What has happened to our country, the land of the free, home of the brave? Has Providence stopped blessing America? When will we get back to our senses?" I wondered, wiping away the tears of regret as I walked out.
Well now, with both scenarios behind me, it was time to approach the audience. I pray they are will accept my guidance and advice.
However, as I stood poised to address the audience, it all suddenly disappeared and I found myself back home, awake and sitting up in my bed puzzling over the happenings of this dream or vision.
What did I do next? While it all was fresh in my mind, I immediately phoned the chairperson of our political party just to say that I was ready and willing to go to work. I had a much-needed message to tell the world. "Just show me to our next Save America rally!" I yelled out urgently to the phone. Amen!
I trust you enjoyed this forthright blog. God is no respecter of persons. So does America need to wake up politically and spiritually? You be the judge. Your opinion is surely cherished.
Bottom line – because the Bible tells us so – God the Father is no respecter of persons, and He will not be showing any type of partiality or favoritism to any man or any woman He has ever created.
"What this means is that you will have no excuse on your day of judgment with the Lord as to why you did not have a more blessed, active, productive, and fruitful life for Him while living down here on this earth."
"You will have nobody to blame but yourself if you have chosen with your own free will to run your own life and call all of your own shots rather than turning your entire life over to God the Father for His direction and handling." (bible knowledge.com)
I trust you got the message behind this fiction blog. Our responsibility, as good citizens of this great country, is to responsibility seek the truth and make assessments based on Biblical principles. This includes our intelligently Bible-based voting. Amen!
