A CASE OF MALNUTRITIONFreelance writer Lupie RileyThought: The word malnutrition invokes an image of starving children in the Middle East. This crises is a result from the lack of good nutrition and food sources. When our Creator Father gave us this planet called Earth He filled it with all those things that would be good for the health of our physical bodies; plants, vegetables, meat, grains, fruits and water. All those things that would help us to grow strong, healthy bodies to maturity. What do we do for our spiritual health? Didn't Jesus say he was the bread of life? "I AM the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never grow hungry and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty ( John 6:45)." He also claimed to be the living water. "But whoever partakes of the waters that I will give him will never thirst again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life (John 4:14)." Jesus is the bread and living water. His Word is the spiritual food we need to build a strong, healthy and mature follower of Jesus. Thousands today suffer from spiritual malnutrition. Why? Because they have a meager appetite for His Word. A once a week exposure on Sundays leaves them on a starvation diet. If we were to measure our spiritual health on a chart where would we find ourselves? Anemic, OK or on fire fully committed to the Lord and His Word? We need to feast from the living word everyday for it is the bread and living water for our spiritual health, strength and maturity. Prayer: Father God, you are the living Word in the person of Jesus. Your Word is my guide and nourishment enabling me to grow in Truth and righteousness. Help me to see the importance of feasting upon this bread and water everyday growing in faith and commitment as I understand more clearly who you are and what you've done for me and all of mankind. AmenVerse: Psalms 119:103 " How sweet are your Words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth." v. 105 "Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
