Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14 NIV
Herein yoke is speaking of joining together for the common good of something to be accomplished. But, what do believers have in common with those who do not believe? Unbelievers live in darkness while believers live in the light of Christ. Unbelievers live in wickedness while believers live in righteousness. So, are we to ignore unbelievers? No! We must pray for them. We can speak with them, but we must not allow ourselves to be attached to their ways. We have work to do for the Lord and being attached to the ways of unbelievers is totally contrary to that which we do for the Lord. Pray for those who do not believe. Provide assistance to them as long as it does not compromise your work for the Lord. Love them, as they need love. Maybe the love of Christ can shine through you, and their lives might be changed.
