“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NIV
One of the most well known and quoted scripture verses is before us. Notice that the verse does not say that God loved the world. No, it says that He SO loved the world! Can you remember the time with your child when he or she said “Mom (or dad), I love you this much” and then proceeded to stretch out their arms and hands as far as they possibly could? And then you the parent replied “Well, I love you this much” and then stretched out your arms and hands to their full extension. Then embracing and kissing and hugging your child you told them that you love them so much. Did you not feel so wonderful during this moment? Now, when God stretches out His arms and hands, saying “I love you so much” it covers from one end to the other of the universe. There is no limit to the love of God. And God proved His love for us by sending His Son to earth to let us know of His love. His Son gave up His life for us, willingly, that we can be reconciled to the Heavenly Father. Man disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden, and thus entered death and enslavement to sin into the world. But the Father had a perfect plan for the redemption of mankind. God loves us so much that He wants us back. He provided the antidote to the poison of sin and death. Our choice must be to accept it. God will not force His love upon anyone. It is provided for the taking. Accept His love. Live in the Son.
