‘“If any of you put a stumbling block before one of these little ones who believe in me, it would be better for you if a great millstone were hung around your neck and you were thrown into the sea.”’ Mark 9:42 (NRSV)

Our own behaviour and manner of life should be a demonstration of the gospel that does not lead people astray, but leads them to wholeness of life in Christ. Let’s consider the way we love for example.

The greatest disservice we could do is to demonstrate to others a love that is a counterfeit version of our Saviour’s love. Let’s not say we are showing Christ’s love to others, if we are making demands, trying to control another or expecting more than they can give. That’s not Christ’s type of love.

Christ’s love is humble, self-sacrificing, displays a willingness to surrender and give preference to another. It is all gentleness, kindness and tenderness. It is patient, even in the most difficult relationships. It provides a safe, nurturing place of shelter. It overlooks offense, endures mistreatment and is not easily agitated or angered.

Others will never be drawn to Christ by love that has the flavour of humanness. Human love is a stumbling block that trip others up on their journey towards Jesus. For those who are close to us, who we desire to know Christ, we must show them a divine love. A love that is pure, unconditional and uncompromising.

‘Lord, forgive me for settling for a human love with its weaknesses that hinder others from knowing you. Jesus please empower me with your divine love, the most pure love that transforms lives. Thank you.’

Such a pleasure to read the truths that Jennifer expounds upon with clear and caring verse. Like those who are drawn to her work for its sincerity, there are those who will be drawn to you to find the answers to what they wish to know.

Another exceptional defination of what a consistant and a caring spirit that yeilds clear and uncompromising answers can do.

We are meant to exemplify the love of Christ. That is far different than human love. Thanks for your share. God bless you!
