Where is your Faith?
By Cathy Crisp
Have you ever suffered a disappointment? If your answer is yes, then ask yourself where did your put your faith at that time in your life? Chances are your answer will be a friend or family member or maybe even a co-worker? Why is this important you ask? Because, there is only ONE being we can count on 100% of the time and of course that is GOD. He is the one and only being that is there for us 100% of the time through thick and thin.
Let’s dig a little deeper into this and discuss a few things. Every single day we put our trust or faith in others that they will do what they say correct? We hold them to what they tell us and when they fail to follow thru, we find ourselves feeling hurt or upset. Is it fair of us to have such expectations of others? There are solid arguments for both sides, but the truth of the matter is ALL humans are flawed. In many cases we are so over stimulated we fail to follow through on every promise or intention made because we simply forget or have so much on our plate there is just not enough time in the day to get it all done and someone ends up disappointed. How can we remedy this constant challenge? We can place our faith on God, and He will lead us down the path HE created for us.
When we are created God has a specific plan for each and everyone of us. We as humans don’t like to wait to see what God's plan is for us, we like to set our own path and follow that. Maybe we want to be just like our best friends or a favorite family member. Unfortunately, when we do this, we set ourselves up for disappointment because no matter how much we plan, if our plan doesn’t achieve the same result God plans for us, it will not work out. How can I be so sure you ask? It’s called faith in God. Faith in my creator that He has a specific plan for me to follow the path He has set for me.
For the first many years of my life, I thought that because of the family I was born into I would automatically be successful and live a good life. After all, my parents were amazing, and we had a secure and loving home and family. My sisters and brothers are all several years older and I remember watching them come home with their own cars and friends and families and to me that meant instant success when I turned 18. They made it look easy. In my view as a young child, they always had everything they ever needed or wanted, and it all came easy to them.
This was a misconception on my part because the reality was, they all worked very hard and even had to ask for help from our parents. The even bigger misconception I had was that my parents never fought. I never saw it so it must not have happened right? WRONG. Mom and Dad had disagreements and got upset with each other HOWEVER, through their FAITH in God and His divine plan, they worked through the tough times together and taught my brothers and sisters to do the same. They made it look so easy to me.
Some may say it sounds I am blaming them for my problems, nothing could be further from the truth. Although it took many years to determine where my Faith should be, I figured it out. Now does that mean life is a breeze? Absolutely not. God challenges me everyday to overcome my fears and failures and start working hard to set goals and then achieve those goals. I have spent my life procrastinating through excuses and suffering failures. I have blamed others for things going wrong, I have been jealous of others success and I have let other comments get to me but after many years I am done. I have placed my faith in God and almost everyday the thought pops into my head that I need to be writing. Will I make millions writing, most likely NOT? Its ok if I don’t make millions, I need to write to spread the word and if my writing helps even one person become motivated to follow God’s plan then my work is well worth it.

Faith in God is so critical to us, yet we tend to have our faith be in others. You are correct in that God is the only one who is always faithful. Thanks for the share. God bless you!
