Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift but as an obligation. However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness. David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the one to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: “Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them.” Romans 4:4-8 NIV
When a Christian sins, their heart and soul will become filled with guilt from the stain of action they have taken. They will feel a separation from God. They will know that they must repent of that sin, returning to God, asking for forgiveness. I am quite thankful that God does not keep a scorecard of all our sins. If He did so, we certainly would be in considerable trouble. For those who belong to the Lord, our sins will never be counted against us. Why is this so? Because we know that Christ died for our sins. He became the perfect sacrifice which the Father required for the atonement of sins. We who believe in Christ are freed from slavery to sin, and the ultimate price which will be paid by those who do not repent and come to the Lord. Rest in the peace of the assurances of Christ, and obediently serve Him.
