The word of the Lord spread through the whole region. But the Jewish leaders incited the God-fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region. So they shook the dust off their feet as a warning to them and went to Iconium. And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. Acts 13:49-52 NIV
When the apostles were expelled from the region, they shook the dust off their feet as a warning. When we share the Good News, we must do so without sugar-coating the message. The message is not to condemn someone, but to warn them of the condemnation of their action. The wrong actions can lead to the condemnation of the individual. We are more than just our words. We are also known by our actions, which come forth from our true beliefs. There is a price to be paid to follow Christ. Yet, the rewards to be received, both now and after we pass from this earth, far exceed the commitment we must make.
You may not feel comfortable with sharing the requirements, the commitment which must be made to follow the Lord, but, this is very important in sharing the Good News. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you in sharing the message that it might be received not as a message of condemnation of the individual, but as condemnation of evil actions. Evil actions are replaced by salvation received through belief in and obedience to Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit will help you to share the Good News.
