Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower. James 1:9-10 NIV
Is one who is in humble circumstances truly in a high position? If you look at it from the eyes of man, the answer is an absolute no. If, however, you view these circumstances as God does, yes, you are in a high position, and can be proud of it. Be proud that the Lord has allowed you to be in this position. Those who belong to Christ, have been promised a blessing for being humble. The haughty, full of pride, shall in no way inherit the kingdom of God. They are like the rich one in today’s passage. They shall pass away. They shall not take their earthly riches with them. They shall be cast out of the sight of God forever.
The Lord loves the one with a humble and contrite heart, the one who serves others rather than demanding that they be served. The one with the humble and contrite heart can let go and give themselves in total submission to Christ. The proud and haughty have no need nor desire in their hearts for God. We must pray for them, as they do not see their foolishness. They are blind to that which they will face.
Accept your humble circumstances and feel blessed in the Lord. Your eternal reward awaits you.
