A leader is someone who inspires others to follow, who guides others to improve themselves, and leads by his good example. Joshua is such a kind of leader, that is why God told Moses to appoint him as his successor."But charge Joshua and encourage him and strengthen him, for he shall go across at the head of this people, and he will give them as an inheritance tha land which you will see." (Deuteronomy 3:28)"So the LORD said to Moses "Take Joshua, son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit of leadership, and lay your hands on him." (Numbers 27:18)In Joshua 1:7-8 God tells Joshua "Be strong and courageous. Be careful to obey all the law My servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left that you may be successful wherever you go."Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be properous and successful."Today there are leaders of nations elected into power by people who never heard of Joshua or even read God's Word, the Bible. These are the ignorant majority who hold a nation's destiny - its progress or its destruction.Nations that exist apart from the wisdom of Scriptures are doomed to failure. No matter how excellent the economic programs and no matter how extensive the expertise of advisers, without God, these are mere human efforts.Psalm 33:12 says "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, and the people whom He has chosen for His inheritance."
The Philippines is an example of a nation without God. Filipinos have all kinds of religion, but they have no knowledge of the true God. Several cult churches abound in the Philippines from the Catholic Church (80.9%), Iglesia ni Kristo (3%), Aglipayans (2%), Islam (5%), Jehovah's Witnesses (2%) Mormons (1.2%), Atheists (.6%) others (1%).
Filipinos are engrossed with religious piety and rituals, particularly the Catholic Church rituals. They are blinded by religion and false teachings and practice the one sin God hates most -IDOLATRY.
If you notice in the Philippines, the Catholic Church under the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines control the political atmosphere and can dictate or sway politicians to suit their whims. In fact, these same bishops were found guilty of using the public funds of the PCSO (Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office) to get for themselves expensive SUV's for personal use. Such is the callousness of heart religion brings.
Because our people are blinded by the god of this age Satan, they continue to journey this life without the wisdom from God. Like the Israelites who were stiff-necked and disobedient, Filipinos continue in their stubbornness and worship idols, images, statues, and even the Pope.
God gave His Son to save us from this blindness, from this darkness of sin, and from our own spiritual loss. The only way a nation can prosper and be blessed by God is when the people REPENT and BELIEVE the Gospel. (Mark 1:15).
Filipinos voted for a godless man thinking he can solve the country's problems and bring change. Change does not come from a change of leaders, change comes from within us. Man can never change himself to leave sin and do good. Only God has the power to change man from the inside. Unless a people turn to God and cry out for His forgiveness, they will continue to wallow in darkness and chaos, and eventually self-destruct.
"There is no peace, " says the LORD, "for the wicked."
