In the story of the rich man and Lazarus, Jesus told His disciples about Hell and Heaven. He did not tell this truth to scare them or instill in them fear, but that they might realize the existence and reality of Hell and the JUSTICE of God. In the Bible, the truth about hell is mentioned in almost 20 verses. Here are some of them:Psalm 9:17 "The wicked go down to the realm of the dead, all the nations that forget God."Matthew 13:50 "and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."Mark 9:43 "And if your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out."Matthew 25:41 "And He will say to those on His left, 'Depart from Me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels."2 Peter 2:4 "For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment."God is love, but God is also just. He rewards those who earnestly seek Him (Hebrews 11:6) and punishes those who reject Him.
Revelation 21:8 "But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars, they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.""Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Be afraid of the God Who can destroy both soul and body in hell."Matthew 10:28
Jesus Christ Himself taught about Hell and when we share the Gospel, we too must stress the need for repentance and faith in the grace and mercy of God through Christ Jesus.
Isaiah 59:2 "But your iniquities have separated you from your God, your sins have hidden His face from you so that He will not hear."
"For the wages of sin is death, but the Gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus." (Romans 6:23)
The Gospel is the Good News that tells us we need not go to Hell but by faith in Christ Jesus alone, we have eternal life and we will never perish (John 3:16) no one can snatch us out of His hand (John 10:30)
Jesus also said in John 5:24, we will no longer be judged but are sure of Heaven - "Very truly I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him Who sent Me has eternal life and WILL NOT BE JUDGED but has crossed over from death to life."
