Life is beautiful in its varieties. God’s creativity is pronounced by the different colours and shades of particular colours. Surely, the strength in diversity is enormous.
You must have realised that certain things come easy for you to do than others. You also must have seen other people struggling to do things you do with utmost ease. Yet, you sweat trying to engage certain skills they perform without flexing a muscle. You concluded: “Everyone is unique!”
Of course, without our varied abilities and inabilities, life would be boring and tragic. Imagine a world where all I know is exactly the same that you know. Imagine having nobody around to cancel your weakness with his strength. Being exactly the same will favour no one and the essence of brotherliness is our mixed dimensions of strength and weakness.
With the understanding that no man is an island, you should resolve to keep developing your uniqueness and encourage me to develop mine. Who has even seen a total man? I need you to be buoyant to fill my emptiness, just as you need my wings to fly upon. You only make the world incomplete by despising your gift!
Let us, therefore, identify and develop God’s unique enablement in us. He created us differently after His image to depend on one another. By this, no man has the right to look down on himself or even look up unto himself.
There are no justifiable reasons for our attempts at being exact copies of others. It is time to do away with pride, competition and jealousy. It’s time to stand being who we are in Christ. We celebrate brotherliness as we celebrate the diversity of God’s gifts in us.
