Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:18b-20 NIV
I must admit it. I am an avid lover of music. I enjoy many genres of music, but, my favorite music is Christian music. At times I will spend an hour or two on the internet listening to music from my favorite Christian artists.
How often do we speak to others with hymns, psalms, and songs from the Spirit? You know what I think would be nice: a Christian karaoke place. I have done karaoke before, and did have the opportunity once to do a song called “This Is Your Time”. I felt warmth in singing that song.
We can, and should sing joyfully to the Lord. No one has ever done for us that which our Lord has done. We could praise Him all day, every day, for the rest of our lives, and not even begin to give Him the thanks which He deserves. Singing songs of worship at church is a beautiful way to sing to the Lord. How about singing praises to Him while in the shower? Don’t laugh, I have done it before, and I felt wonderful in so doing.
I really enjoy reading prayer-a-phrases of psalms. This really shows creativity in praising our God.
Let us speak to one another, being filled with the indwelling Holy Spirit.
