Eligible to be heard.
Prayer being one of the most blessed privileges and thus much has been said, written and preached about prayer.
Even though it is the easiest and most efficient way to have communion with God, it is the most powerful way for a believer and the most dreadful act for the Devil when a believer really prays.
Having prayed as required, do we ever doubt, if God heard our prayer? Is there a moment in our life that our requests have been unheard?
Let’s hear what they who have prayed extensively in their lives have to say about this…
David, the man according to God’s own heart….
“If I regard iniquity in my heart,
The Lord will not hear.”
Psalm 66:18 NKJV
If ever we pray with a deceitful heart, or if sin still persists in our life, or if we have not sought pardon (in the real sense with a desire to forsake our evil ways) rightly : GOD WILL NOT HEAR OUR PRAYER
What James, the brother of Jesus, whom history records was a great man of prayer has to say…
“You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.”
James 4:3 NKJV
When our prayers are not in accordance to God’s will and we ask for wrong things which is meant for our pleasure resulting in our spiritual damnation : GOD WILL NOT HEAR OUR PRAYER
Yet often there are instances when we ask with a right heart and our need may be genuine, yet the prayer seems unanswered….As Paul when he prayed to God for the removal of an ailment in his life…this is what God said…
“Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
2 Corinthians 12:8-9 NKJV
The above example is not an unheard or unanswered prayer, rather God wants us to depend upon His grace, for He knows what is best for us.
Often God leaves in our life an area of pain, so we may constantly feel the urge to be close to Him always.
Jesus, at the tomb of Lazarus makes this bold prayer…
“And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.”
John 11:42 NKJV
I simply wish if I could become like Jesus to boldly pray “I know that You always hear me.”
That would only happen when I have no sin to hide and when I am praying in His will.
Prayer is a blessed privilege: Let’s ensure to make and keep ourselves eligible in a manner: always to be heard.
God Bless,
Abraham
