Poetry
Another ordinary day for, much like Saul I was breathing out threatenings trying to destroy anything associated with God.
I was Commissioned by my master it made no difference of man or woman try to bring them bound up under the same rod.
I was on my way to my Damascus it was a very broad road that I had travelled many times as I went.
I cared naught for God, or his people. My master’s approach was to kill, steal, and destroy for this purpose I was sent.
The Lord broke in on me while on this way, and simply said Jerry how long will you continue in your fighting against me?
Although I had been taught some about the Lord in my youth, I did not know who it was that spoke this to me.
He showed me in an instant how my life up to that point had been one with me constantly fighting against his way.
How could I reply to such accusations, my guilt was clear, there was not a word I could defend myself with that day.
There were others present that night, they indeed heard a voice but they did not see the savior that appeared to me.
He told me to rise up that night, go to a church that was strait and he would begin to teach me in tender mercy.
Many in this city knew of me, and my ways. Many thought for this man there is no hope and this was all my fault.
I was shown that all my days were spent trying to destroy the very savior with whom my redemption was just bought.
The Lord that night removed the blindness from my eyes, it was amazing after so many years to finally receive sight.
For immediately that night there fell from my eyes those scales that had so long refused to let in any light.
I started telling others that I was once in league with of the savior insomuch that they were all simply amazed.
Saying to themselves is this not he that once sought to destroy the very faith of any that spoke of his matchless grace.
People that really knew me were filled with consternation that the chief servant of his master, now spoke of another name.
For I was born again not of corruptible seed, but incorruptible, transformed from the life that once brought me shame.
Years later the Lord is still allowing me to increase, being commissioned to convince others that Jesus Christ is Lord.
I can’t thank him enough for ordering my conversion just as he did, and that this miracle is according to his holy word.
All the way, my savior leads me what have I to ask beside.
Can I doubt his tender mercy, who through life has been my guide.
Heavenly peace divinest comfort here by faith in him to dwell, for I know what ere befalls me, Jesus doeth all things well.
