A story is told about a Missionary that spent his life in Uganda, leading the native folks there to Christ. He was there several years before the very first Ugandan, made a commitment to follow Jesus. And so, after much hopelessness and doubt, the Missionary was blessed with triumph, and his work would go on to bring thousands of Ugandan's to the Lord.
The Missionary goes on for several more years, teaching and ministering to anyone that would listen. And by the grace of God, thousands would commit their lives to Christ, and lead lives transformed by His infinite mercy.
One Sunday morning, as the people came together, the Missionary went on to teach them from the book of Thessalonians , chapter 4. The passage talks about what it's like to grow in the Lord, and the importance of being prepared for His return.
But it was when he got to verse 16, ( "For the Lord Himself, shall descend from heaven with a shout ! ). that the newly saved could not contain their curiosity.
" What did He shout!?". "What did He shout!?".
The Missionary was caught off guard by the question, and he took a moment to frame his reply. For the Bible never identifies the word that the Lord 'shouts' , when He comes to rapture His own. But the missionary couldn't leave it at that. These young believers hung on his every word. Their enthusiasm and hunger to learn, was inspiring.
" I can tell you what I think He shouts" said the Missionary. I think He shouts "ENOUGH!". 'Enough' of the efforts of society, to remove Me from the schools and libraries across this world. 'Enough' of the hard left, conspiring to rewrite the constitution, in order to allow same sex marriage. 'Enough' of pornography. 'Enough' of corporate greed. 'Enough' of the sacrilegious. 'Enough' lying. 'Enough' blasphemy. 'Enough' indecency. 'Enough' using My name, as a common swear word'.
"ENOUGH"!
I know that the Son, the blessed Redeemer, longs to bring us all home, to rid us of this life here on earth. But He bides His time, because He is Love, and He is not willing that even one man should perish.
But when He looks down on this world, and see's the spiritual carnage, there's no doubt that He's ready to come back for us, and take us back with Him to Glory.
There can be no doubt, that when we least expect it, the trumpet will sound, and those that chose to follow Him will be caught up to meet Him in the air.
Any day now, the Lord could shout 'Enough'! and call us home to be with Him.
