Marriage
I was thinking this morning of making paper, and remembering the process from nothing to something...it reminded me so of our love.
You start out with a container full of liquid slurry...it has nothing that makes it unique...it is just waiting for something to be done, to give it some form and substance.
That was so like me before I met you...I just drifted along without purpose...just waiting for something...I wasn't sure what, but I longed for a new shape and form.
Into the liquid you dip a sturdy frame, with screen stretched tight across the bottom, and you hover it just below the surface, and gently shake it back and forth, just waiting in anticipation.... the new paper is there, it's just not quite yet, the moment has not found it's time...the next move is up to you.
God was working in me, He stirred me up inside, He was preparing, getting me ready.... but before He could start, make the changes He longed to, He was waiting for me to say 'yes'.... until then He hovered, just under the surface, knocking so gently on my door...and finally I gave in, I said yes to Him and He joyfully went about His creation.
The frame is pulled out, the water drains away, and inside that frame we now see, the brand new paper is there, nestled in the frame's care, until it's dry enough to be on it's own.
God's frame pulled me out, gave me a shape and a form, He cared for me, held me so close, until I was ready for a new role in life, and He knew just what that should be.
The wet sheet is tipped out on a flat surface, and sprinkled with herbs, or any decorative items you want.... then over this sheet is put another the same size, and pressed together, they capture what's inside.
God took our two sheets and brought them together, for He knew, we were the perfect pair...we matched in His eyes, and His plan was for us to be sandwiched together as one...and in the center, He sprinkled His love, and grace like sparkling glitter.... and He brought us together, knowing love would do it's work.... and it did and we two became one...and though each sheet was thin and transparent, so what was inside could shine through, together we become that perfect sheet of paper, just waiting for God to write on our lives.
