Faith to Trust
Am I really trusting wholly in You?
Is it shown in the things I say and do?
Or do I take it into my own hands?
Is it Your will I follow or is it my plans?
Why must I always want the control?
My wisdom is repeatedly proven a fool
To You, Lord, alone, I need to concede
And allow You for me to intercede
Yet my folly is once again displayed
When I have acted instead of prayed
Seek first Your Kingdom as it is taught
Yet this is one thing that I do not
Take, again, from me what I cannot give
For You and You alone do I want to live
My prayer and my simple offering too
Is my life, given and lived only for You!
Brothers and Sisters,
This is a common battle I believe we all fight in our walk. I know each time I pray throughout the day I must say “Take, again, from me what I cannot give.” It is a plea for God to take control back from me. I am good at giving it to God, but I am not so good at leaving it with Him.
The first step in all situations is to seek first the Kingdom of God as instructed by the Bible. The next and hardest step is to leave it with God. It is our human nature to love the illusion of control. But the truth is that we are never in control even if we like to delude ourselves by taking things into our own hands.
This poem was given to me yesterday prior to our morning service. I have been in a position where my faith and trust are truly being tested in all aspects of my life. I wish to testify that I have completely given over control, but as you can see this is my new battlefield.
A quick thank you to Janice Ramkissoon, my friend, encourager, and editor for the help with the title.
God bless

You are welcome. The beauty of friendship...I echo the words of Jody. :-). Keep serving bro!
Thank you always for your humble transparency. You are right that this is a common struggle. May we all believe in our hearts the Gospel truth that God, as Father, is in control and ordering all things to our good and His perfect purposes. Praise God that in Jesus He has overcome the world for us so we can concentrate on resting in Him, taking His yoke in exchange for ours so we will stop carry the burdens of this worldly life around like a ball and chain. Praying for you, brother! (May you also pray for me...)
