Super-Stardom. ( He alone Is Worthy ).
There is and always will be, a singular human-being that came to Earth equipped with the tools and the fortitude and the inward perfection, required to handle being a super-star.
I've often wondered what the 21st century would look like if Jesus had postponed His purpose on earth and lived amongst us here in 2016. With the invention of TV, followed rather quickly by the progression to a world wide Internet, Jesus' coverage would have been unthinkable. Imagine the Broadcasters and the Journalists on CNN or Fox, on a daily basis, bringing us additional clips that completely defied the laws of human capacity. A Man born of a carpenter that rose up quickly, to an inexplicable phenomenon. His miracles would be carried to mankind live, bedazzled reporters and editors, shocked beyond words by impossibilities caught on film. Oceans obeying His commands; food multiplying inexplicably; the gravely ill and lame and even the dead, quickened and healed just because He commanded it so. In no time at all, every station on radio or on TV or online, would cease to cover anything else. What otherwise worldly event could ever compete with this Man called Jesus? Donald Trump, the NBA finals, the coverage of National disasters, would be of little interest as, through an impossible diversity of media, this Galilean completely stole the show.
It's in that same context that man would quickly strive to extinguish this confounding
development. For if mankind has an innate discomfort with anything unexplainable, surely This Man, would in quick order, befuddle the establishment. And as His followers began to multiply at a staggering rate, and His words were unbridled, speaking indignantly about pre-marital sex and homosexuality and abortion and greed, He would rapidly be labelled a 'hater'. Despite His objective being the sanctification of souls, as well as love and kindness and respect, He would be painted as a disturber; an antiestablishment rebel; a discomforting threat to every single man or woman that walked this outrageous world.
Imagine the tally of followers, on Facebook and Instagram?; the millions that would Tweet about His every move. Imagine the crowds assembled, 'trending' on the vast bulk of Social media, when Jesus raised Lazarus or when He calmed an unruly Sea, surrounded by Disciples wearing *GoPro cameras, recording every instance. Long before radio or TV or the Internet, Jesus walked from one community to the next, inundated with burgeoning crowds desperate just to catch a glimpse. Imagine His impact now, as opposed to then.
Unlike any other character in the history of mankind, Jesus was divinely equipped to handle the extraordinary attention. For He was worshipped long before He could walk and He was confounding, long before He left the manger in Bethlehem. Throughout the 3 years of His ministry here on earth, and at the age of 33, Jesus would stand unrivalled for the remainder of history.
But even in the face of boggling adoration, Jesus never changed. He never got caught up in His own headlines, so to speak. For He alone was born, fully equipped to be worshipped and praised.
When man is exalted, essentially idolized by the world that surrounds him, it is almost always a death sentence. For man was not, nor ever will be, designed to function under the inexpressible load of adulation. The vast majority of human beings that were essentially immortalized by their stardom, died very young and very dysfunctional. Elvis and Michael Jackson and Prince ( to name a few ) were inevitably caught up in their fame. Even as they cultivated their own extreme examples of widely presumed ingenuity, they became less and less able to live in the world outside their estates. Elvis died at the age of 42, alone in his bathroom, on his estate called Graceland. The walls that had essentially served to put a barrier between him and the rest of the world, would trap him in his lonely home. His autopsy showed an unsustainable level of barbiturates in his toxicology report.
Michael Jackson was 50, and intensely reclusive, found dead due to an overdose of Propofol.
Prince was found dead at the age of 57, in an elevator in his self contained compound called Paisley Park.
Clearly, none of the 3 were ever able to enjoy their lives, and the inconceivable amount of adulation. Unprecedented fame, quickly became a millstone, chained around their necks. No human being outside of Jesus Christ, could ever bear the irrepressible weight of unrelenting adoration.
As believers we know that time is short. Even now, when I watch the state of the world on the news, I'm more convinced than ever that existence in the Age Of Grace is quickly winding down. I watch as literal throngs of the North American public, on either side of the border, choose dead beat, inexplicable people, to govern over our every day affairs. Even now, on a day to day basis, I'm reminded that Gods Word helped prepare us for this very moment.
When He said in John 12:40, “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and turn, and I would heal them" He knew what was to come.
Like never before, the urgency to adopt the teachings of Jesus, is paramount. For one major asset that the enemy will bring in the person of the 'Anti-Christ' is the ability to control the media. Unlike Jesus, whose words were painstakingly written and passed down, the enemy will have access to every form of media known to mankind. And it is here, in that collision between The Son and the enemy, that Satan will make his final stand. And in his desperation to steal souls, will manipulate the media, showing incredible forms of deception, likely healing and soothing. But this will be an unsustainable ruse, and as Scripture clearly points out, he will turn on the people and in a final rampage, steal every possible soul from the doorstep of Glory.
A day is coming that every single human that ever walked the earth, will bow in worship at the feet of Jesus. The worlds most dysfunctional people that were incapable of handling their own success, will suddenly be stripped of their temporal glory; eternally meaningless. In that singular instance Jesus will begin His eternal reign, as King Of Kings, and Lord of Lords.
And it goes without saying, He'll have no problem handling it.
