‘Come near to God and he will come near to you’
(James 4:8, NIV)
A Christian by birth, I followed all the practices that Christians do: prayed in the morning, before meals, before going to bed, went to church on Sundays, attended religious meetings, to name a few and yes I did carry some amount of faith; as far as I thought so. When I used to ‘read’ the Bible all the verses used to sound the same to me, telling the same thing; Jesus loves us and came to save us from sins, just in new different expressions. It was not until that day when I got to know Christ as I never knew Him before. That day I prayed to God for His guidance to teach me, though I did not know the seriousness behind and how it would work, but I simply did what my soul was asking me to do; I submitted to the soft inner voice in me. It was only when I found myself ‘studying the Bible’, whereby every word carried a meaning for me, that I realized what I did and what difference it made.
There are many who know ‘Jesus’ but only few who know ‘Christ’. And this is reveled only when we ‘invite’ the Holy Spirit to work within us with a willful heart. This Christmas pray to God to give you your own personal experience of knowing Him closely; the way you have never known Him before. Just pray and be assured in Him.
Prayer: Thank you Lord for your presence in our lives. Amen.
