DEATH BED CONFESSIONS

Author requests article critique
Once medical professional has exalted all of their resource to keep the physical body alive, they often encourage the family to consult with a clergyman. However, I am concerned that in many of these cases, it is far too late to for salvation. The plain language in Roman 10:9 does state (If you confess with you mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raise him from the dead, you will be saved). It is erroneous for one to interpret this scripture to mean that at any point in your life you can confess Jesus and receive salvation. This long held assumption has sent a message that the bible doesn’t condone.
One can not ignore the voice of God their entire life; and suddenly confess Jesus on his or her death bed and expect to receive salvation. God is patient, but is not mocked. (See Galatians 6:7) There is no biblical precedent that supports a death bed confession. In 2Kings 20:16, Hezekiah was already a servant of the Lord before receiving an extra 15 years to his life. The closest biblical precedent we have that supports death bed confessions the thief of the cross in Luke 23:39-43. This thief confessed Jesus because of his fear of God based on the revelation that he received, not because he was about to experience the physical death.
