There is nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life beautiful for others.― Mandy Hale

We are never more like Christ than when we are in service to others. Jesus came and set the example for us to follow (Matthew 20:28,Mark 10:45,John 13:1-17) and what I have learned is I am never happier than when i am making those I love happy. My wife says I am predictable. For example, this week my daughter ran some errands for her. I wanted to at least repay her for her gas, and asked her how much I owed her. She said $10 would be fine. I knew she both needed and deserved more than she was asking for, so I gave her $20. When I told Janice, she just said, "I already knew you would do that; you always give her more than she asks for." Immediately Luke 6:29-31 came to mind. But, she is not wrong. I absolutely love to do unexpected things for those I love. One of the best experiences I have had was when Janice and Jessica went through the Emmaus Walk and I was selected to work in the prayer room. For four days we got to simply serve the ladies going through the retreat, and I especially loved it when I got to serve Janice and Jessica. After that weekend something clicked in my heart, and I understood why Jesus said He did not come to be served, but to serve (Matthew 20:28).
There is just something so special when we simply allow ourselves to be willing vessels for the Lord to pour out His blessings through. I have always been accused of spoiling Jessica. But, seeing the amazing young woman she has turned out to be, I know I did her right. You see, I did not spoil her, I simply made sure she knew how amazing she is; and in the way I have loved her mother, have made sure she knew how a woman is supposed to be loved, and I pray will settle for nothing less. Proverbs 18:22 says, "The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the LORD." and Proverbs 31:10 says, "A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies." Now, if a man has been blessed with such a treasure like I have, my question is, why wouldn't he treat her like she is an amazing gift from the Lord.
So yes, if bringing smiles to two people who bring me so much joy means I spoil them, I guess I am guilty as charged. But you see, I don't see it that way. If I am blessed by blessing those I love, isn't that a win-win for everyone. You see, our Father absolutely loves to bless His children; and if we are willing, He will allow us to partake in His work; and trust me when I say, there is no greater honor that when the Creator of this Universe allows us to be involved in His blessings. I guess that is why I am always surprised when someone pays me a compliment. My first response is for them to thank God; because he was the giver of that blessing, not me. If I give money to help someone in need, or to a local ministry, it was not me who deserves the praise, because my money is His money; and He simply chose to bless them, and I was just allowed to be a part of their blessing. You see, James 1:17 has it right, "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father..." That means WE can bless no one, if we do, that gift is given in vain. But when we understand who the true Giver is, it makes each and every blessing we receive so special. Because, just like my precious Angel who the Lord gave me 26 years ago, His gifts are second to none. In fact, my amazing gift has only gotten better over the years; and I know that is just the Lord showing me how much He loves me. So, cancer or no cancer, I am blessed and highly favored of the Lord, and if you are a child of God, whether you realize it or not, SO ARE YOU!
From my heart to yours!
