You may say, "What in the world is that word doing here in 2014?" I could see why you would say that. We live in a fast-paced world. A world that has vehicles that are capable of going from zero to sixty in less than ten seconds. A world that has 4G, high-speed internet, that is capable of loading a web page in less than a second. We are so caught up with this fast-paced world, that we don't even know what being patient is all about. Well, patience is all over the BIBLE. We try to multitask. How dangerous is that? It is very dangerous, because it not only focuses our mind's and hearts on more than one thing at a time, but it also causes us to get angry when something slows us down. These days, you hear people cuss when something goes wrong, simply because we have lost patience for letting God be God. What does that mean? PSALM 46:10, "Be still, and know that I am God:..." There is only one true God. The BIBLE says, "For there is one God..."( 1 TIMOTHY 2:5). All things consist by Him, and all things are under His control. Just this Christmas I gave out Christmas cards that had the title "Let God be God". Going back to the question I asked while ago, "What does that mean?" God knows everything about us. The BIBLE says, "...with God all things are possible."(MATTHEW 19:26). You and I are not God, so all things are not possible. Instead of falling into the temptations of this world, focus on one thing at a time. Let your heart burn for God, and therefore; do all things out of love for Him. Why do people get so mad when things go wrong? It is simply impatience. Let's say for example, you and a friend were going to a game. You had a car, but your friend didn't. You told your friend you would pick him up at eight, the game starts at eight-thirty. Well, you go by his house at eight, and he is not ready. He tells you that he can be ready in fifteen minutes, which would put you late getting to the game. So, you go on yourself, so yourself want miss any of the game. Did you notice any words that repeated? Yourself, maybe? Yes! Steve Pettit, the president of BOB JONES UNIVERSITY, said, "The highway to hell is when you live for yourself." That's true, being selfish will not only get you nowhere in this life, but it will also condemn you to a lake of fire the BIBLE calls hell. So what, you may be late for a ball game, or late to work or school, but slow down and be patient. We should all, including myself, be ashamed of how we have been drawn into this fast-paced world. We want things to happen now.We can't wait for that package to come into the mail in two weeks, so we choose expedient shipping. Mind I say that costs more money. So, now we are wasting money because we are too impatient. It is just a domino affect. That will, in the end, destroy our lives. Don't let the fast-paced world get you down, you stand up and be patient, just as God has been so patient with us.
