I was thinking of the decorative edging I used to make long ago to decorate something ordinary and make it prettier.... and it reminded me of our love.
This was the simplest of techniques, taking only two different colored strands of heavy thread and a needle...and the first step was to anchor the stitching to the garment.... with a row of tiny stitches. This one row, tiny and almost invisible was the most important row, as upon it everything else depended.
I imagine God gathering our two thread-colors together and stitching that foundation row on our lives.... He brought us together...and our relationship is centered on Him, and that was the first joy.... knowing we love each other as a reflection of the love He has for us.... and the foundation row was made.
Each row after that was made of tiny knots, each nestled in the space between the two stitches below it - each little knot twining the two colors in a different pattern for each knot...just as each moment of our day ties another small knot of love, of tenderness, of happiness and peace! We build our next row of stitches.... and that is the second joy...as we grown in knowledge of each other, the love grows deeper, and each knot reflects that in it's tiny twists.
Ah, and now one can get creative with the knots, building rows upon rows, each shorter than the other, til you have a half-diamond built of knots...then twining the threads down the side, to build another diamond next to the first.
As our days go by...we build on our foundation.... we create new patterns and diamonds with our lives...some knots contain pain and sorrow, along with others full of laughter and joy.... and that is the third joy...knowing that as long as we are together, our stitches will hold.... knowing our love shared is doubled, and our burdens shared are halved.
We cannot see His whole design, and that doesn't matter at all.... for as long as we stay in His will, our stitches create a pattern, for it's beauty is in the making, each moment, each day stitched with love.... in this all our joys come together, and we give them all to each other, in this is our joy complete.

The entire piece is creative and inspiring, but it is this line "knowing our love shared is doubled, and our burdens shared are halved." that grabbed my attention the most. It brings to mind the love of Christ in my life and how it overshadows the sorrow and multiplies my joy. Another wonderful article.

Yes, another beautiful work of art...and the foundation you are building on is what will continue to bring forth the lovely patterns and designs.
