Deuteronomy 34: 8
8 And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.
Joshua 1: 2
2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
After 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, the children of Israel had finally made it to the promise land. Prior to going into the land; however, Moses died. Before moving forward, the Lord set aside a time for his people to mourn for his servant. When that time ended, however, God selected Joshua to take the nation of Israel into the land which he had promised to Abraham.
Today, many people are grieving over pain from their past. God in his grace and mercy patiently waits for us to learn how to “forget what lies behind and press on towards the high call” that is on each of our lives. As we conquer grief through his grace, God continues to gently reminds us of his promises and guide us on our paths. He wants us to move from sorrow to a revelation of the restoration we now have through Christ Jesus.
Thought of the day: What pain are you mourning over today that God wants you to leave behind?
