Upon a barren plain named Desolate his journey began.
This long awaited drive in his Icaras XVi round the Blue Mountains is an experience to delight in. The roads wind skyward in dizzying yet surely constructed inclines. Rather than sully the ascent, Cary's resolve strengthens amidst the occasional turbulence.
Time and again his gaze is drawn through sturdy windows. Viewing peaks chiseled by a mastermind sculptor in blue tinted relief with wonder. The road's gradient steepens, the vehicle accelerates smoothly in reply. Benjamin Israel's stepbrother appreciates the intent of this drive's soaring movements. He's being carried upward to the summits by a longing more ancient and firm than the limestone foundation of these Mountains.
That longing is like Benjamin's, pursuing his every singular step. Ol'Ben himself polished the purple hover car's delineations before the drive.
Artistic eyes catch the reflections of cliffs upon the burnished bonnet and are enriched by this experience. Those reflections, a celestial rebus for his being set apart for God's work and conforming to his image, that celestial glory floods over the chassis, into the car, quickly becoming more a spiritual than a visual occasion.
His sanctification on this road is personal but it isn't jealously guarded. A hunger for others to see these sights grows with every passing mile.
Leaning contently into his seat, he exhales deeply. Incredibly, the rejuvenating atmosphere encompassing these heights intensifies in its pleasantness, attaining an even superior texture as he scales the mount.
Exceedingly high, above the troposphere he ascends, approaching a lofty pinnacle. The mountaintops in this rarefied air are polished by a ballet of the sun's rays.
Likewise, beholding the Son God's glory with open face this futuristic Icarus is not consumed by Jesus's fire but rather polished into his image.
In an eye's twinkling he's liberated from space-time's confines, moving about as it were in a waking vision.
Cary isn't Desolate, he is named Hephzibah and his land Beulah.
He exits the car, climbing to a peak he once felt was unattainable. Sitting there, staring into a sky like opaque ice, his craving is satisfied. He encounters the Morning Star, grandiose and unshakable in the Third Heaven. That star reveals to all that which was already inside him, a manifestation of the Sons of God, for he is sculpted in his Savior's image.
All his life he thought it was his duty to find the Star, but it was the Star that had sought him and drawn him here all along.
