Devotionals
I heard the story of a person who owned an expensive car, yet was a good believer and he had a sticker on the back of his car stating, " Don't get carried away by this car, my true treasures are in heaven."
The rich of the world are really rich yet only in this world, however if we do not have any treasures stored up in heaven, we are the most pitiable.
" Listen, my beloved brethren: Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? " James 2:5 (NKJV)
The rich often get covered up with the cares and worries of their riches and where money is actually the protecting force for the poor, the rich sacrifice themselves to protect their earthly possessions.
Jesus rightly says...
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money." Matthew 6:24 (NIV)
Riches from money is often accompanied with pride and since God hates pride we find ourselves away from God.
The greatest worth of a man is not which car he/she drives or which house he/she stays in or anything that he/she possess rather it is who is driving, who is staying and who we are.
Jesus also says...
" For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? " Matthew 16:26 (NKJV)
Thus who we are matter more than what we have or posses.
When asked about God's identity, this is what God replied to Moses, "I AM". Are we what God wants us to be? Are we the true Christian who finds his/her possessions in Christ alone?
There is no greater identity than being a child of God, its far more than what any riches could ever give us.
God Bless,
Abraham
