What is happening in our churches today? That is an excellent question. I can tell you the ones I have attended in the past 8-10 years are deader than a door nail. Oh, they put on a good show and go through the motions and it does no one any good at all. I am so bored with Church. It does me no good at all to go. I don't feel any different or get any help or information than I would if I were sitting in McDonald's having a big Mac.

I got more out of church back when I was a new Christian than ever in my life. I mean that church was on fire for God and it wasn't because I was just a new Christian either. We had services that would put the pentecostals to shame now days. People were saved real often and there was shouting and singing like you wouldn't believe. You knew you had been in the presence of God when you left the church back then. Did I mention it was a Baptist church? Yep, it was. We were quite a bunch. I can remember the presence of God touching me in those services and I would shout out loud. I could feel that presence with me all week. It was wonderful.

Now..church is boring and I can't wait to leave. No one gets saved, no one gets anything that I know of. Oh..some say it was good and they felt the presence of God and on and on. But there is no evidence of it. The word says signs follow the word preached. There are no signs following, so there must not be the word preached. They preached something other than the word.

Now ...I'm going to say something here that some of you might not like. Preachers live like the world. They go to movies and watch movies at home and watch sports on T.V. on Sunday and on and on. Now I know these things aren't sin, but what preacher has the time or luxury to do such things? Seriously, how can they do this and then go stand in the pulpit and be of any use to anyone there? They have been hooked up with the world and have no anointing on them to minister to anyone. You can't be a worldly person and expect to pray and preach and see results. It don't work that way. A minister has to stay in tune with God and not participate in worldly activities. I know a lot of you will disagree with that, but it's true anyhow.

This is why there is no power in preachers lives. They are trying to live anyway they want and still be anointed. They may preach, but without the anointing to minister to others. I see this going on all the time. I see them stand to preach and their sermons sound like something they made up themselves. You can tell when it's from heaven and when it's not. Anyone in the congregation can tell you if it's anointed or not. It don't take a rocket scientist to know. Most children can tell you that. What a sad state of affairs our churches are in because of this and other things as well. Preachers, you have to come out of the world and be separate. The bible tells you that. Really all of us Christians are suppose to do that. But most are the other way around. We are in the world's way of living and God is only on Sunday's. Again, not all are this way, but more than should be, are.

I long to see the Spirit moving in our churches again. What a wonderful time that will be. You won't have to advertise your church then. Word about what is happening in the church will spread like wild fire and they will come from every direction! What a glorious time that will be. This has to be or else people like myself will never be happy in a dead cold church and many will back slide because of it. I won't attend a dead church or else I will eventually die to. Anyone will that goes to one. So be careful that this don't happen to you.

I agree! Our local church bodies should be bearing the fruit of transformed lives, seeing people recovering from addictions, and people being baptized as a public confession of their faith. But too often church is nothing more than programs, activities, and the same rut week after week. Going to church is something that we should look forward to. There are a lot of wonderful churches that are impacting peoples' lives but, as you have stated, there are also many that just do not understand the biblical function of a church.
