The Archangel flew down to earth
He landed in a cosy town
An important errand to fulfill.

When the bells pealed
A young girl had a strange visitor
She stared in gaping amazement
A sight she had never beheld before.

When the bells pealed
The Spirit of the Most High
Covered the virgin with grace and glory
God’s chosen handmaid from the start.

When the bells pealed
The rapturous news was proclaimed
The day of the Incarnation had dawned
The Word had taken flesh on earth.

When the bells pealed
Mary held the fruit of her womb
With utmost love in her ardent heart
Her One word sent heaven in a frenzy of joy.

When the bells pealed
God’s work commenced on earth
The plan of salvation had taken birth
Thus, at the Annunciation it all began.
