I thought it only right to write one for men too...

The Measure OF A Man

What makes a man a MAN I ask?
Is it the way in which he fulfills a task
his confidence in being able to provide
for a family, the source of his pleasure and pride?

Is it power ,strength, proud physique
that no - one dare to call him weak
Or his way of dress - the image to impress to clinch a final deal?
or is there something deeper still that makes his "maleness" real?

Not stereotyped, manufactured or cheap
that denies the tenderness to weep.
But compassion, gentleness, reaching out
prepared to search for those around about.
A quality that is devoid on this earth
where who you are on the outside dictates what your'e worth

Inner values are denied their real purpose
it's face value that reigns, what's on the surface.
A place where no-one understands repent
preferring to concentrate on their physical tent.

Oh father, is there brokeness and humility within my life
do I dare to go under your spiritual knife?
that cuts out the cancer of self -seeking and conceit, arrogance, pride
that seems to repeat in actions, thoughts, motives
ugly all the way through
when what I really long for is the purity of you

Lord teach me to get down on my knees
so I can stand up like a man
To become just what you want
as part of your master plan

turn me to dust and rebuild me anew
transparent like glass so your holiness shines through.
and may the image that is seen draw others to you.
Elohim, my master and friend always true.
