Poetry
The crowd chose His fate
Screaming, they accused
Demanding His blood
To be beaten and bruised
He makes no objection
For He knows the great plan
Of His father above
To save every man
Accepting His fate
And silent with peace
Trusting His father
That all will soon cease
Whipped and degraded
He is scorned by the crowd
“King of all Jews!”
They mock Him out loud
His head hangs in pain
But they are not done
A crown of thorns they then place
Upon the head of the Son
Staggering He walks
Blinded by blood
Carrying His cross
Through the dirt and the mud
Silent He stays
Loving them still
As He makes His way up
To the top of the hill
Pierced through His flesh
Hammer meets nail
His feet and His wrists
Brutally impaled
Hanging on the cross
He is broken and weak
But with the strength He has left
Softly He speaks
“Father’” He cries
“Forgive them,” He pleads
“They know not what they do.”
He defends, while He still bleeds
Exhausted and frail
His mortal body is now done
As His father appears
To take home His Son
While they were still sinners
May we never forget
That out of a great love
Jesus paid all their debts
