Numbers 11 (New King James Version
Now when the people complained, it displeased the LORD; for the LORD heard it, and His anger was aroused. So the fire of the LORD burned among them, and consumed some in the outskirts of the camp. Then the people cried out to Moses, and when Moses prayed to the LORD, the fire was quenched.
Dearly Beloved Brothers and Sisters, we ended our discussion examining why the people complained and acknowledging that waiting in the wilderness (the process of deliverance) appears to be more difficult than living in Egypt (the bondage in which one is trapped in). However; we do understand that weeping my endure for a moment but joy comes in the morning. Upon further examination of the complaints we see that the people complained about not having meat to eat disregarding that the Lord gave them manna from heaven on five days and a double portion on the six day because the seventh day is the Sabbath which is a holy day. Are you complaining about how the Lord sustains you? Are you complaining about meat when God has given you manna? Are you despising small beginnings...are you ungrateful of the Lord's blessing? They complained that God had brought them out of Egypt just to die in the wilderness...Understand that God brings you out for the purpose of bringing you in.........into your promise land, into your land that flows with milk and honey! The Lord delivers you from bondage that you may be able to experience the freedom of Christ. Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty! Notice that the scripture states," Then the people cried out to Moses, and when Moses prayed to the LORD, the fire was quenched". Moses in this text is a type of Christ.
He is the intercessor between the children of Israel and God the Father as Jesus Christ is the intercessor between the believers and our Heavenly Father. When Moses prayed the fire was quenched. The bible declares that God is a consuming fire therefore the fire of his displeasure with the children of Israel was put out... as it is when Jesus prays on our behalf. In this eleventh chapter of Numbers there is a solemn lesson in regards to looking back at the things in which God has delivered us from and how it affects our entire being.......to be continued in the next segment.
